DDR Elitists

I always knew about DDR, but never felt compelled to try it. Somewhere in June of 2004 I decided to play it because my girlfriend pushed me to try to beat her, since she was on some dance team in High School.

Anyway, I am now playing mainly Heavy mode, and some somgs on Standard. I have met many nice people in the arcade. But I have met other kinds people as well. There are these kinds of people in ANY kind of recreational activity. Elisits.

I remember when I was still playing on Light mode, and some jerk who bragged the whole damn time because he could do a couple of songs on challange mode choose my second song for me. He put it on Standard without me knowing (I was looking to see if my girlfriend returned at the time). I passed the song, but barley. Obviously, he was trying to kick me off the machine.

There was another instance where a real good guy was playing on Oni mode. He got over a 1000 hit combo, proceeded to get a 900some combo, then failed. He started to yell and complain that he can do better (some kid said he seen him break 3 and 4 thousand), and blamed his failure at the crowd. He stormed out of the arcade after that.

Seriously, it's just a damn arcade dance game. There are more things to life than to move around spasticly. I have been having fun ever since I was playing on light mode. Although I get frusturated if I fail, I don't stake my life on it and blame other people (aside from getting knocked over or something while playing). I certainly don't look down on people just getting into it.

Anyway, I hope this kind of attitude stopps, and I needed a place to vent. I felt this the proper place to do so.

well to some its the only way to be in shape some just accept teir misstakes but others become vilent at one arcade some guy got pissed and walked ver to a coin dump game kicked it and craked the plexiglass i try to do other active thing besides ddr but there is people better than you allways putting you down but i try to make some people feel better so if you ever come to my town except a kind word and advice(only if asked for it)

Those aren't 1337 players, I assure you. Those are more like "I suck at ddr but try to look good by exaggerating my skill level." They are everywhere. I have some at the local mall, they are HILARIOUS. But when a real good ddr player comes around they get owned . There are still some good ddr players that are assholes, but I think it's rather rare. I haven't met anyone that is outstanding at the game and is a jerk. When I mean outstanding I am referring to exceptional, like top 50 in nnr or so.

Elitests are a fact of life. They are just insecure and just need a way to aggressively show whatever strengths they have. But they are entertaining.

It is very fun to put those jerks in thier place. I'm usually accepting to new players and give complements to players when I think they do good. This one kid at my school has progress faster then anyone Ive ever seen play before. If he keeps progreessing at this rate he will pass me up in 2 months or so.

Anyway, those jerks should be incentive for you to get better...and then crush them .
