I play DDR everyday for many hours. The downside is though is that I have very little money. When I say that I mean like $10 every other week. Dose anyone know of a GOOD mat that I can get at a cheep price? also anyone know how to make a metal DDR mat with my kind of budget?

what kind of mat are you looking to buy? a soft mat, or a metal mat.

if you want a good soft mat, i would probably go with a Red Octane Ignition, which is about $100. although i have never used one, i have heard that they are very high quality and durable. you said that you make $10 every other day, so at that rate it would only take you about 2 weeks to afford one.

if you want a metal mat, i would recomend a Red Octane metal mat. they cost about $200, but its defiantly worth it. i got one a little over a month ago, and i really like it. the RO has a raised platform, for an arcade like feel. i would not go with a generic metal mat off of ebay. my friend got one of those, and the back arrow constantly breaks.

hope that helped E1.gif

Quite the RO fan.

If you read through the ignition pad thread that includes the RO's there's a lot of talk about malfunctioning down arrows. Personally I just go on ebay and get a pair of knock off ignitions for about $60 after shipping and mod them like the link to my signature has.

My last pair of knockoffs were Cypher Games brand and they lasted me 9 months and that's 9 months of heavy playing, myself up to 9 foot difficulty as well as friends doing songs like Sakura, Max. (period) and other such crazy stuff.

if you want REALLY cheap, get a couple soft pads from buynshop.com and duct tape them to plywood. Make sure that they are properly laid down and taut. I had a couple pads that lasted for two years, and that was from beginning to Cata's. Play with socks and they will last for quite a while.

My RO died in weeks. knockoff pads rock! ive used them and they are better for the price. I however opted for a "kinda ignition pad" a modded pad with raised sensors (Cardboad covered with packing tape) works like a dream. For modding though, if the bottom isnt thick, line it with duct tape.

Those pads are on backorder. I emailed them about it two weeks ago and still no response and they're still on back order.

a konami softpad is 20 bucks (this is the one that comes in the DDR Extreme bundle), and it works great. Ive had mine for over 3 months, the only problem is that it slides around on hard songs (CSFIL SM, rhythm and Police), but that can be solved with the plywood method. Now i have a flux, but i definitely recomend that pad.

Build a metal pad. There's a thread on it "My Homemade Metal DDR Pad". Work for the money. Wash a car, apply to MickeyD's, go beg on a corner. With a little modification, you can build two for under $200.
