Question about MiniMoni games

I came across some MiniMoni games the other day and had no clue what they were about. What kind of music games are these and what kind of controller do you use?

The only game I know about is the Shaka no Tambourine game by Sega, which seemed to just be a scaled down Samba de Amigo.
