Lately, it's been the trend to quote what someone else said and just say 'quote for emphasis.' Why this is still allowed, I don't know. What does it add to the discussion? |

It really doesn't. It's just a way for people usually to make a witty remark at someone.
ie.) I post asking a question that has already been answered previous posts before.
Another user sees this and quotes that post which has the answer and under it, writes "Quoted for Emphasis".
That is okay really. As he does answer the question that that person has asked, even if it was answered previously in his post. Therefore, it can go both ways really. _________________

If all you do is quote for emphasis, it would be perfectly fine with me if that person got a point for postwhoring. However, if they do that and add something new, then it wouldn't be. Postwhoring doesn't add anything new, and neither does quoting for emphasis. _________________

How ironic...postwhoring in a topic about postwhoring while accusing someone else without providing an example as proof. _________________

EDIT: nevermind it's not worth getting banned over.
As for the topic, I think that quoting for emphasis is indeed postwhoring. |

I can imagine situations where "quoting for emphasis" would be legitimately useful in distinguishing the best notions, but conversely it is just as easily abused. |
