EMS USB latency issues! *Do not use this adapter*

I've tested this against a straight LPT port connection and the EMS USB2 had a latency difference of appx 1/20th of a second!!! >.<

(THis is HORRIBLE I must add... .05 seconds is the difference between a perfect and a good)

The adapter is flawless for it's compatibility. It lights up my pad's leds all prettily (unlike the lpt port adapter, which doesn't have sufficient power to light them up)

Buuuut the lpt port adapter still gives me NO latency issues. I have the difficulty on 5 now and it's just like the arcade. ^^


In actual play >
Pop4 normal nonstop (added by playing each song in succession)
LPT > 12 greats
EMS> 237 greats 2 Good 1 Miss

there is a sticky for this sort of thing. and this isn't new info just so you know...you can fix this by changing your global gap.

i had the same problem too, fixed it with stepmania's global gap...here's the info on how to fix it brother

Now, just play the game like normal. Ta-da! However, there is one thing you’ll need to set – the GlobalOffsetSeconds. The thing is, on most pads, the timing is just a little off – somewhere between the converter and the pad it is not as exact as you need it to be. There is one simple way to set the GlobalOffsetSeconds.

First, start a song, and turn on “auto sync”. It’ll be in the second page of options. Then, play the song *as exactly as you can*. You will want to play something way below your level, a light song that you can AAA or something. Then, take the value it tells you at the end (it’ll probably be negative something) and put that into your GlobalOffsetSeconds= value (you’ll find it in \data\stepmania.ini).
