I ordered a PS2 to LPT adapter from buynshop.com. The one in the picture has an 18" cable. The one they sent is a 5" cable.

I contacted them to get an exchange. They told me they made the substitution because they claim the 18" cable is out of stock and the one they send me is equivalent (I guess size does not matter to BNS E13.gif). They said I can get a refund, but I will have to ship back the incorrect adapter via their RMA process and they will issue a refund for everything but the shipping cost.

My choices are:
  • Return the cable (I'll be out the $5 shipping)
  • Keep the cable and buy an extension cable at the computer store (They cost about $5)
In the end I'm only out $5 and some time, not a big deal. But this is the 2nd time this week I have heard of buynshop.com shipping substituted but inferior items. They were not apologetic about the situation (in fact, they were quite the opposite with the take it or leave it attitude).

Just buyer beware. If I was paying $30 for shipping on a DDR pad, I would be really angry about them asking me to return it and forfeit the shipping costs. It was their mistake, they should make it right.

OK... This is off topic, but moderators please listen:

I first posted this in DDR Chit-Chat because I didn't know where to put it. P-Chan locked it and told me to put it in Bemani Controllers and Hardware. So I did.

Next, Shinmizu locks the thread in Bemani Controllers and Hardware and tells me to put it in DDR Simulators. So I did.

I agree with P-Chan, I don't agree with Shinmizu, but what can I do? This post is about buynshop.com's business practices and benefits the DDR community since they frequent this store. If you want me to move the thread again, please come up with a consensus. Locking the threads and making me repost just makes more posts on the board.

I'll post to the Site Feedback forum to ask the board admin to install the PhpBB Move Hack so you can move topics instead of locking them.

You are talking about an adapter. An adapter is NOT bemani hardware. And there is a sticky for this kind of thing here, just so you know. But the decision was made that the adapter sticky wouldn't be moved to hardware because you only use an adapter when you are playing a simulator (unless you're playing DDRUSA PC...but no one has that).

As for moving vs. locking, there have been a million threads asking about why moderators don't move topics. the answer is simple: people will not learn from their mistakes and they will get incredibly lazy if they are allowed to post in the wrong forum. As a mod over at ITGfreak, I for one know it is a real pain in the rear to move topics when instead you could just lock it and tell the thread creator to go post it somewhere else (I haven't really moved anything, but I did play around with it and it was far more complicated than just locking).

This will probably be locked as well, because we have a sticky for adapter discussion. You also probably should've just PMed Shinmizu about it instead of posting, or at the very least, edited your post instead of double posting.

Sorry bub, doesn't look like your day riiight.gif

No... I am talking about buynshop.com's business practices. The fact that I bought an adapter is beside the point. I will illustrate this with the following statement:

I ordered a banana from buynshop.com. They sent me banana seeds.

My choices are:
  • Return the seeds (I'll be out the $5 shipping)
  • Keep the seeds and grow a tree (Should cost about $5 in water)
Replace the word banana with metal pad, stickers, or anything else they sell. The warning is still the same.

You can also do what I did: get an extension for the PS2 controller instead.

it might just be that it IS the point to many people who want to buy adapters from them and don't want to get shanked. I think it is entirely relevant to adapters. I seriously doubt that they would make such a mistake with something like a metal pad or a "banana."

Keep in mind that they are in the business of distributing goods to consumers, not the business of producing goods. They may not have the 18" cable in stock anymore because their suppliers no longer manufacture them with an 18" cable (as was the case with mayflash's Super Joy Box Dual Adapter...the new versions have shorter cables...probably to lower production costs). The fact that they still advertise it with an 18" inch cable is pretty bad, but again, they are probably going off of their suppliers product description (ever notice how EVERY metal pad on ebay has the same description?), and so it might even be BNS's fault.

As a side note: I am not arguing with you or anything, I just want to make sure you see it from all sides. You have every right to be ticked off about it, and it's nice of you to warn people, but it might not be completely their fault.

Moral of the story: let the buyer beware.
