Would it be possible to add In The Groove machines to location listings in some form? |

I don't remember seeing anything for Pump it up either, not that I play either game but if you are going to expand it to non Bemani games more will have to be added. _________________

PIU is in the Other Games list. You can't list a location with just PIU, but if a location has DDR in it, all known versions of PIU are also listable.
The problem with adding ITG is where to add it - whether we should list it with Other Games, or if we should list it as a DDR version. We're very hesitant to add it to the DDR versions list, but if we put it in Other Games, then it's conceivable that a location could "upgrade" its sole DDR machine to ITG, and the location would go away simply because the DDR machine is no longer running official code, even though it still exists. _________________

There will soon be 20; that list is growing daily now. I would almost suggest listing ITG along with DDR mixes simply because it's the same cabinet and the same control interface as far as DDR is concerned. Along with ITG, I'd consider adding Extreme plus, Megamix, (the other versions of extreme that exist) Even though these aren't official like other DDR versions, it's still nice to know where they exist.
Another option would be adding Pump/Techno Motion/ITG to a list for 'Other Dancing Games'. This allows machines locations without DDR to show up on the locations page. You might want to consider the same thing for other bemani games as well? (A revamp could help people find certain games faster)
DDRfreak's location page has always been respected for it's fast and easy list of finding remote machines somewhere else (it's the best to date IMHO). As far as I'm concerned; I don't think this is should be an official/non official game concern. This is just simply being aware of what games are where. That's just my opinion, don't know if others share it or not. :) |

Not to be assy, but proper disclosure would be a good idea, since you are affiliated with ITG. _________________

Sorry for that. I was just giving my opinion as a casual player of the games; Not trying to influence anything at the slightest. I'm sure that whatever is decided will be the best choice for the community.
As far as my relation to the project; manufacturing/hardware/locations is not my direct area. My vagueness is mainly because I don't know the latest status on these things.
What I do know is that http://itgfreak.eternalchapter.net/locations.php is the only current and growing list of ITG specific locations. I think they are added tby word of mouth from the players.
Anyway, no worries |

I'm thinking that we should have it like this:
Dancing Games
Other Music Games
Plus you should add Megamix, Extreme Plus so that people don't need to put it elsewhere since the spaces are limited on amount of characters IIRC. _________________

(damn no internet for a week) Holy poopy, he is an admin now!!
I think Extreme PLUS and megamix should not go on the locations lists, just because they are extreme with a different interface (and one kills your machine slowly). ITG AND Stepmania cabinets should have listings in the DDR pulldown mix thing. _________________

I like the idea of having all machines, even non-DDR, show up on the main state listing, but the question is: how much would it slow down the database if you could do that? |

We'll have more details in the coming weeks, but with the advent of a new DDR version coming, I believe the stakes in this argument have changed somewhat. We'll have to see how it plays out. _________________

You sure are a little bundle of joy.
And obviously you care on some level, or you wouldn't be whining. _________________

Yeah, I've been wanting it like this for a while too. Simply change the DDR versions list into a generic game version list by adding all the Other Bemani titles in there too. Then allow the user to filter to things like "DDR machines only", "Pump it Up Machines only", "Other Bemani only", or allow custom searching. It would be ridiculously simple to implement with SQL, and require very little modification to the current database schema (i.e. remove the many-to-many "location/other Bemani" relation).

I wanted to make a site dedicated to that, but my complete lack of coding skills render me useless in that department. _________________

Could you also list the Guitar Freaks as well. I'm starting to get addicted to that but the only place charges $1.50 that I know of. |
