Hi - My name is Bernadette Pollard and I am a Producer with Tower Hill Productions. We are a film company based in both Boston and Los Angeles. In the past, our Producers have been involved with such films as "Charlie's Angels" with Cameron Diaz, "What Women Want" with Mel Gibson, "Daddy Cay Care" with Eddie Murphy, and the television series "Malcolm In The Middle".
We are currently working on a documentary film that may be of interest to you or your friends. It is an in-depth profile of the DDR phenomenon here in the US. We are looking for people of any age who are extremely fanatical and passionate about playing. We are hoping to find three unique people to follow as our main subjects in this documentary.
If you are interested or know of anyone else who may be
please take a moment to answer the following qualifying questions. We will be conducting our first set of interviews the weekend of Sept 3rd in Boston (if you are under 18, your parents are welcome to attend). For the month of September - we are very interested in seeing anyone who lives in or near Boston or who can travel to Boston. We will eventually have more interviews in Los Angeles, New York, Canada and Japan.
Please cut & paste these questions

Wait a minute.... why do you only have a yahoo email address...
sounds like a kiddy porn gimmick ... we want to follow u and film u... all day every day... Notice how he never used the words "Dance Dance Revolution"... Only DDR... he obviously meant Dirty Dicks in the Rectum... otherwise he would have specified it was Dance Dance Revolution.
So everyone looking to make it in the world of child pornography... contact this guy... he has a great resume... but still only has a yahoo email address... anyone care to explain that one... i mean atleast you could have an ISP email address...
Oh and what the hell does race, sex, age, and everything else have to do with applications? I mean I could see if your looking to follow a 12 yr old, a 15 yr old and maybe a 17 yr old... but not just any random person. All your doing is adding to the creepiness of your post... that and the phone number.... phone sex... this guy really must be desperate _________________

i really don't care if his email is that or not... he still is creating a kiddy porno with his weird foreign friend franc... creepy bastards!
Oh and for another thing... he doesn't want ppl to actually think it's a kiddy porno... so he created an alias email that forwards all of his emails to another one called [email protected]! _________________

There's nothing interesting about DDR addicts because it's a legal substance. If somebody was selling crack to pay for it then we'd have a film.
The film I'd watch is somebody starting out on DDR who is overweight and follow the plight of that person/people trying to get into shape using a video game... that's where the fascination of the general public comes from.
Have the people you follow go into arcades with good players in them and show how newbies are discriminated against and so forth. |

I saw a video online of a guy doing a few songs on heavy on a 4th mix machine. This may not sound special, save for the fact that the guy only had one leg. I think if you were to do a documentary on DDR, that may be the type of thing you should do it on. _________________

They need to follow ppl around who are trying to lose weight or who have a disability like padrotte and skillz187 said.

I'm pretty sure somebody out there who is good would (although I wouldn't because I don't think me being good at a video game should be in a documentary, I mean you don't see many documentary's about guys who can kill you in Mortal Kombat in 5 seconds), but you pretty much hit the nail on the head with that one. _________________

It didn't take long to think of at all. I think that was the beauty of it. To call me a moron when you know nothing about me is just silly. I was responding to the fact that you randomly accused this guy of trying to arrange child pornography.
Yahoo email? Maybe he doesn't want to post a real email on a message board because then it will get spammed (email harvesters are nasty inventions)? DDR instead of Dance Dance Revolution? How often do you type out Dance Dance Revolution, honestly? Race, sex, age? You think maybe they might want to do some profiling before they select candidates, or is that just silly?
Your post has no foundation whatsoever. I don't know what this guy's intentions are. And I was kind of annoyed by the spam on multiple boards as well. The difference is I'm not randomly accusing him of something without a leg to stand on. _________________

do u think most flames on this board or on any board can be justified by other proof? Good luck on find that... most people just go off on something and that's how flaming begins. I decided to take something of his... warp it... and flamed him for it...
obviously he's not gonna use his real email... who would want to risk that with a bunch of ppl like myself and others (who are far worse) that will spam the hell outta him. Obviously I knew that.
I just found it to be annoying how he wants to create a documentry about ppl playing DDR... now that's mainstreaming it TOOO much... what's the point? Lets get EVERYONE to play... thats the best idea in the fricken world... _________________

That would be all good and well, except that it's against the rules.

We've had the "Mainstreaming of DDR" discussion before (and it was a very good one too). That's a topic for another thread, so if you are seriously bothered by/interested in that discussion, I highly recommend starting a thread about it. Basically I would say, why not get more people to play? What are you afraid of? Again, if you want to continue this discussion, please start a new thread.
On the topic of the movie, I would seriously recommend talking to qkumbr or Sketch; both are great players that I know of on this board, and Sketch is on a phenomal team of players, so that would give another angle to cover. I do, however, tend to agree with the people saying that most people are not really going to want to be reported on for DDR, especially after the whole skewed publicity the AZ(?) community got. _________________

Dear "Oblivous":
I appreciate your right to voice your opinion. Thank you for offering a "devil's advocate" response.
Being that Dance Dance Revolution has thousands of devoted players, of all different skill levels, we thought it important to have a list of qualifying questions to begin our documentary project. Unfortunately, we cannot film every DDR player in the world - but getting an idea of a person's background, enthusiasm and skill level will be integral in the filmmaking process.
We are searching for something specific (ie: serious, talented players that will properly represent this art form). We also want depict DDR's broad range of fans (the game successfully crosses multiple ethnicities, ages, genders, areas). It does not make for interesting filmmaking if we only feature African American beginners, male, 19 yrs old, from New York - viewers are interested in all walks-of-life.
Tower Hill Productions is a small film production company (consisting of an all female staff), and we can only handle a certain amount of inquiries - therefore, it behooves us to let those people who may be sincerely interested in participating - contact us directly via email. It is impossible to fully copyright a documentary idea or the working title of a film, which makes company cofidentiality a priority.
I have great respect for the game, it's designers and the players. If anyone has more specific questions for me about the project or our company, please feel free to send us an email and I will respond with more in-depth information. Thank you for your time.
Regards,
Bernadette Pollard

I would also like to mention that I have never participated in the ddrfreak.com Forums in the past - and therefore I was not aware of the "spamming" factor.
I posted this listing for participants in three separate categories ... I apologize if this was against the rules or if we offended anyone.
Sincerely,

Well, the spamming factor isn't something only this board does buddy. If you've ever been on the internet, you'd probably know about the spamming factor. |

If only you were in Atlanta, and I could verify whether or not this was actually real or not. I'd be all over it if you were here and all. _________________

I am forced to agree.
I can find no record of either a "Tower Hill Productions" or "Valley Road Pictures'
Something here seems definitely fishy. |
