Hey everyone i need some seriouse help and i need soon..Me and a couple of my friends are looking forward to gettin a club started for ddr and our school.. but we dont know where to start or how to do it..i have heard of people having clubs at their school for ddr....but i dont know how they how they pulled it off..it seems hard to do for me..im out of ideas..what do i need..like the benifits for playing ddr..i need the costs and all that stuff..information and crap like that to get the principal to see it as a good idea then the big bad school board to agree with it..soooo..pls somebody plz help me out here..just give me what your oppinions are..all of them are really appreciated..and if you have a club at school for ddr..and are reading this plz tell me how its ran...i really appreciate it..Thank you all for your time and help...!

first off, How many people around you do you know that plays DDR, if there is only life 2-3-4, then it wont work. You need alot of people to Want it if you want to get a club. Talk to your school admin or a teacher about that, sometimes it varies school to school.

Well i know round 10 ppl who play DDR that are in my grade and im in the ninth grade..soo there are 3 more grades to go through because im in highschool..but we were goin to find all that out later into the plan..and two of my friends have teachers in their family that teach at our school that think the idea is good..one of them is the dance teacher and the other two teachers are just teachers..lol..but we want to get a plan first to bring the school..and see what people think bout it then go from there..you know..maybe i am looking at it wrong but if i am that is why i made this topic so i could pointed in the right derection..

Explain the serious benifits of DDR. Show some examples of people losing 100-150 pounds, explain how it can help football linement increase their 40 time by making their feet move faster, and translating that to football by faster footmotion. Explain how it can help the smoothness of wrestling(yes, it does... I'm both a wrestler and a football player, and i've scene increases in my speed and smoothness on the mat).
Show how well it helps people get physical activity and how it helps get people into shape and still have fun. GET THAT DANCE TEACHER TO SAY IT HELPS HER STUDENTS LEARN TO DANCE!!!!
Just because only 10 people play now, maybe 10 more want to try to play, maybe 10 more actually do play. That there is upwards of 30 people, which is usually more than a baseball team, a wrestling team(varsity), etc.
If you get your own machine, show them an Extreme machine, say that it's only so and so amount, and you can play for free. If you go to an arcade to play, have the school talk to the arcade, maybe set up hours afterschool(2:30-4:30 or so), where the students can come and play for free, and the school pays a set price to the arcade for the time.
Theres alot of ways to do it. I haven't tried, not enough people play in my area to do it, But i've helped set up clubs like this before. It's not to hard with the right material to work for.
If your school is a big sport school, show how it can help your athletes become better at their sport.

You want to make them see the benefits, but you don't want to lie outright  .
The more organized you appear when you present the idea THE FIRST TIME, the better your chances are of everything going as expected or better. When you're doing any kind of proposal, first impressions are everything. Also, set your sights high, but take small steps to get there; don't expect the school to buy you a machine so you can get started, maybe plan to start on some Ignitions and a PS2 and work your way up to a machine eventually.
Make sure you have a pretty good idea for yourself what you expect/want the progression of this club to be. Are you aiming to target people with a workout mindset? Are you trying to target gamers? Just other DDR players? What is your end vision for what this club does? Runs tournaments regularly? Gets together every day after school? During lunch? These are some of the kinds of questions that, if you ask yourself now, you can make a better impression and save a lot of stress later as you try to decide what to do.
One last random suggestion: check out a bunch of the weight-loss articles on the front page or in the front page archive of this site. That kind of thing is the kind of "benefit" that people are going to recognize and react to. Also, somewhere in the archive is an article on a school with DDR machines; I'm not sure how helpful it will be, but it might be worth taking a look at.

jez..now when i made this topic i expected little help..THX a lot guys..i needed this..but what bout the cost and all that..what do i do for the money..i mean the school is gonna want to see a chart on how much its gonna cost and all..and i dont know where to look for the cheapest VERY CHEAPEST things for the game..BUT..i do have a ps2 and 2 pads..and max..i have a friend with a ps2 2 pads and max 2..so i guess thats a start right there..but what else do i need is that it...i have the benifits down now..pretty much..thx a lot for that..but the cost is the only thing that is throwing me off..so if you could guide me through that even the littlist bit i would be grateful..

I'm not great with costs... but i can do this much...
PS2 = about 180 bucks now.
Max 2 or Extreme(when it comes out)= 40-50 bucks
2 pads = about 40-50 bucks.
Take a poll when your school starts at your lunches, and see how many people want to sign up. If you get 30 people that want to sign up, get 5 PS2's, and 10 pads, and five DDR Extreme's, so they can take turns on each of the pads. The school should already have TV's that you can use.
So 5 sets of PS2's and games and equiptment is roughly...
1400 dollars for the equipment to be able to start the club with good stuff. Maybe you could get a fundraiser to raise the cash, (might even get more than that), maybe take donations from kid's at lunch... a bunch of quarters goes a LONG way.
Do whatever it takes to raise the money so the school doesn't have to pitch in too much, so that way, your chances are better, with the equipment ready to be used, they have less of a reason to say no.
Thats about all I can think of, maybe somone else can help.
Whatever you do, don't say "1400 DOLLARS!!! NO WAY!" A little effort can get that up in no time.
