|
|
Finish Line has created a TV advertisement for Nike Monster Shox featuring Pump It Up. The commercial was originally supposed to use DDR, but ended up using PIU because they were not able to obtain the proper permission for DDR. In any case, it's...interesting.
Thanks to Eddyisgreat for the link. _________________

It's a fricken weird commercial is what it is. I heard the commercial when I was in the other room and I heard Vivaldi's Winter playing. When I first heard it, I ran in the TV room and saw some guys playing a dancing game and thought "Oh a DDR commercial and V is playing." But then I listened closer and realized it was the original version, and they were playing Pump. What a let down. _________________

So, is that song in Pump It Up ?_? Or were they just playing it over the commercial? _________________

Well, they blew their chance at selling the shoes. W/O DDR they are just wasting their time.
"Our customers play PIU in our shoes."
Nice. _________________

According to the commercial, the Asian guy was the world champion from China.
Ah well, at least in my aread, Asian people aren't anything special at the game. _________________

What are they talking about? All I have read on the message boards is how annoying it is the mexicans have the top rankings. Where did china come from? Was there really a tournament and china came in number one? or is it just americans being ignorant? http://www.pumpitup.co.kr/ranking/global.html# |

Eh, its okay commercial. The "We're gonna bring the world champion here from China and we're gonna beat him" thing was kinda dorky but the shots of that guy playing at home with his PIU metal pad were hardcore. It looks like he has a whole room of his house devoted to PIU.
If they wanted to use a PIU song I would've recommended Beethovens Virus. Using Winter a.k.a "Andamiro's V" just makes it even more obvious that PIU is more similar to than different from DDR. (Although technically at the time Winter was introduced into PIU V was still only in the IIDX series.) Of course the shoe guys probably wanted the confusion. |

Lets look at this wisconsin made piece of crap, shall we?
*****DISCLAIMER***** I Did audition for the commercial, and this is all of the infromation i found out from the audition. Auditions where held in milwaukee and chicago, as JDOGG posted threads on them in the midwest section.
They did *not* use DDR because of LICENCING. The person said that konami didnt want the NIke name attatched to the DDR thing. But the truth is, is that they really hate the american DDR scene.
The commercial is crap, and the people in the wisconsin thread have been saying it is crap also. I mean, they play Winter on PiU, and now we have alot of n00bs thinking that V is on PiU. The story of the commercial SUCKS. PERIOD.
EDIT: The "chineese" guy was just some kid from chicago.
I use quotes because i dont know if that is his haratige, or if he was born in china. _________________

maybe they mean it more like a chess thing, where people do go country to country like that. But its a commercial, u guys are too harsh, you ever see that episode of stargate where they make fun of themself by doing that dum made up tv show about themself, thats how people are in that industry. And that commercial looks pretty cheap to make, reality tv is in like it or not, cept i bet that music and PIU cost them some... |

I guess I'm one of the few that actually liked the commercial. I'm not exactly a fan of the stereotyping in it, but the commercial itself made me laugh a little. Please don't throw stuff at me . |

that old skecthers commercial was better...
the scene with EVERYONE shadowing behind the guys was so dumb... and fake...
and being an avid pump player... the steps didnt even look like "winter"...
the machine is definately the newer exceed which ahem... means 2 newer pumps since extreme came out... so... take what u can get... and dont hate those who just want new things to play...
can someone please make a better commercial featuring the bemani community? _________________

Some folks take a funny commercial seriously, and nitpick everything. The World Champion from China was obviously Sarcasm, not real you nitpickers. |
