control problems

when i accedentaly changed the controls on stepmania
I couldnt really change anything back.

because if i tried to make a change in any option
it would on go left and right

so do you think I should download it again?

(Depending on your OS), do a system restore thing. See if that works.



If it still doesn't work, yes, re-install it.

And don't I know you from another forum....?

I downloaded another one
and replaced that one with the one that had the problem
yet its not working

and also
should I just uninstall then reinstall it

I'm not really sure what the heck you're trying to say, but from what I can gather you messed up your imput controls. You can try two Options:

1) Completely uninstall Step Mania (use the uninstall icon in the SM folder or use window's Add/Remove Programs option). Then re-install the program and download the latest version from www.stepmania.com and manually re-install all your plugins, etc. Do not copy/paste folders into your SM file directory unless you know exactly what your doing (The exception being your songs and course folders).

2) If you mess up your controls in the future and don't want to re-install, you can simple access the SM main folder -> go to the Data Folder -> open up the Keymaps.ini file. Inside are all your settings and you can just delete or manually change your entries in there. If you delete all the entries, SM will automatically use the default controls next time you run the program.
