A ddr player that has a point

recently i found a post that was locked( thanks spike)
that said Blacks were Not good at perfect attacks and the only songs that they do are "stomp to my beat"
also that there are all freestylers.

well this is a sterotype that follows me and i hate it
another sterotype is that blacks listen to Rap and R&B
when the fact is that I am black and my friends are black and we play ddr
(and i am not a noob well kinda i play on standard now and i started playing a few months ago.) But finding blacks that play DDr is very rare at least around my house and school. Black around my house go by the sterotypes of being a "thug" and listen to hip hop and never heard of ddr.
THey say i am weird and a freak. in fact not one person does ddr at my school except me. (or listens to rock ,techno, trance etc)

another thing is that I do not do STomp to my beat. Not to say it isnt a good song
it just never interested me. I mostly play the parnioa's, the max's, and the healing vision's ( angelics my fav

)
well i guess this all i will put since i took so much of your time but thank you for listeing to me
and please reply and the only reason i put the post up is to show everyone that there are Black ddr players that dont go by the sterotypes

you are definitely correct, sure that there are cool black freestylers ie Bruce Leroy, but there are also a couple that i know who are good black PAers ie 123kid, Jet, Noble, just to name a few, i'm pretty sure that 123kid FC AA Paranoia Rebirth Heavy, Jet AAA POP 4 Normal with a score of 099304473, Noble got a percentage of 99.4% on Nearly=130. so there you go we know that black DDR players are not only good in FSing but aswell as PAing

That's fun, this topic made me realize that around here, of the three best scorers, one is white, one is black, and the third one is asian... So I guess race has nothing to do with Perfect Attack ^^

I can't stand "Stomp to the beat" but thats because I'm a chick and that song has a lot of air, and I just got my first "DDR bra" and well you get the picture.

A-n-y-way... this isn't about stomp to the beat, this is about stereotypes, and yes I'm white so I can't really say that I know how it feels to be a minority, but I am a girl and a teenage mother, and I DO know about sterotyping, and that no matter how hard you try to get past it, it bothers you.

All I can say is try to use it to your advantage. For example the stereotype for DDR is that all girls play on light and the pop songs ONLY. Well I'm very competitive, so I like to use that to fuel me. I LOVE to go to the arcade and school someone on standard, and sometimes even heavy, and to see the look upon their faces.

Maybe you could try to do something of the like for yourself.

Stereotypes are something the world has, not just in DDR. Stereotypes also say that Asian decented people are the most skillful in video games.

That's totally not the entire case. Some of the best players (on the east coast anyway) are black, hispanic, and even white. This is a game for all people, race, age, sex, et cetera.

To keep from a problematic racial debate from happening, I am locking this.
