I know that maintenence is prbly spelled wrong, but i dont care much. I also know/expect this to be locked and get referred tothe soft pad discussion sticky, but im going to ask anyways.

I just got my replacement red octane ignition 2.0 pad. I had to replace my first one because the inside plastic between the button circutry and the the foam insert was torn due to creases. I was wondering what i could do to stop this from happening and was also hoping to get some other maintenence tips. if there is a post on this somewhere, please let me know, cause i really didnt want to sift through all 61 pages of soft pad posts.

They sell a pad cover, I assume that would help.

RO are such a ripoff though. You can get the same exact Ignition pad for like 30 bucks online, it'll just be made by someone else and not RO. It's the same damn pad though.

heh same thing happened to my first BNS DX pad after lots and lots of playtime on heavy. luckily i still have my 2nd pad. i thought i maintained my pad well.... no folding, just kept it flat on the ground in front of my TV all the time. just playing on any soft pad will slowly deteriorate it. =/

my suggestion is to keep playin on ur beat up pad and if ur life starts revolving around DDR get a cobalt flux. =)

Or build one for half the price sarc.gif

And the ones that you can get online for about 30 bucks...I think those have a less quality pad inside.

But, I'm just going to skip the whole "mediocre" level of pads and go straight to CF/homebuilt quality.

Maintaining my pads is like...impossible. Im poor (and too lazy to make a homemade pad) so i buy the 20$ soft pads from Babbage's. I've been playing not even 2 years and I've gone through almost 3 pads. Any suggestions for maintaing cheap soft pads?

Well, you can use the pad modding guide found in the tips and guides section of this very site. It'll help, but it certainly won't make them last forever. It does, however, prevent them from getting all bunchy-uppy, which causes the insides to tear.
