Me & some of my friends are starting a DDR club at my school. Were going to have tournaments with cash prizes. As tournament director, I need to decide on the rules of the tournaments. Does anyone have any suggestions on what the rules should be?

I would say check out the Tourney Discussion boards, I'm sure you could find something there. But, for a quick run down of basic rules, I would advise the following:

1. Song Selection: Each player picks one song, the third is chosen by roulette/random. No song may be picked by the same person more than once per tournament.

2. Outcome: Whoever has the most perfects on 2 out of 3 songs wins the match. If each player wins a song and another song is tied, then either use total perfects for the tie breaker or have them play another song chosen by roulette/random.

3. Elimination: Double elimination usually works for most people.

4. Mods: Allow anything that doesn't affect the steps or both sides of the screen. For example, allow speed mods, dark, sudden, hidden, (don't know why anyone would use those last two, but...), flat, boost, etc. Do not allow Little, Shuffle, Right, Left, or Mirror. Also, since Solo affects both players, don't allow that unless both players agree to it. And no Freeze Off.

That's all the important stuff I can think of right now.

And all we have are soft pads cuz we cant afford metals.(well some can afford but no1 wants to lay down $300 for one)
To get more life outta the softies the people r gonna have to play in socks E4.gif

Well, at least you could try to mod the soft pads : put them on a wooden board and some plexiglass (or hardwood floor covering) on top of it, so you won't have to buy new ones for each tourney ^^

and just out of curiosity : are speed mods usually allowed in tournaments ?

I guarantee you, with soft pads your tourny idea is going to go right down the drain. Especially with cash prizes involved. For me, soft pads have had a life of approximately 15 days. After that they practically die. I also broke my $135 metal dance pad in 3 days from playing Max300. What a piece of poopy.

Right now theirs no1 in the club other then me that can even play above light mode so destroying my pads isn't going to be much of a problem.....maybe if there are some 300lb. ppl ill be in trouble
