|
|
Yeah, this is my last year in High school, and I want to go out doing something crazy. Well, here comes the senior talent show, where all the graduating seniors can show off their talents in front of the whole school. Well, so far all they have are some rock bands and thats it. Then I thought to myself, "why don't I do some ddr?". Well, auditions are this friday, and I was wondering if I should even bother trying. Do you guys think it'll be cool to show a whole school of hicks who've NEVER heard of DDR and show em how it's done? _________________

Hmm, why not?
This could be regarded as a dumb question, arguably, but you WILL be dragging a TV and a PS2 and a beatpad out on the stage, correct? I mean, you won't just be standing there pretending? _________________

If you're trying to impress a croud, do some FS, cause just doing a couple hard songs won't impress that many people. Also, if possible, try using something better than a softpad (I doubt you have an arcade machine lying in your basement, but at least mod the plastic one.)
If you're school has a projector with the right inputs (red/white/yellow, like on your TV), you could project the arrows up on a screen behind you. _________________

It would work if you have a cf or metal pad, and a projection to show the audience. |

There goes the idea, if you want to have people laughing at you until the last days of graduation, go ahead. _________________

I think if you did Legend of Max Heavy doubles, memorized the steps so you were looking at the audience, freestyled, got an AAA. and had a projection screen behind you. You'd still be only impressing about 5 people |

I got one, why dont you play an easy heavy song first. Then you ask one of the audience to try for themself. After that you start to play the catas. The audience will be more amazed on how hard the game is to them and how easy is it to you.I dont recomend you to freestyle, odds are that those people wont appreciate that. |

Eugh, I wouldn't. I wouldn't freestyle either unless you really knew what you were doing. But if you did, just choreograph a dance routine off the pad or something.
They'll probably be confused for about half of it, and then bored for the rest. Stick to impressing people in the arcade...all high schoolers need is someone else to make fun of. _________________

I will tell you now, at a halo-a-thon/tourney I took DDR with that way inbetween rounds me and a friend could show some people our stuff... Thing was with it being a projector (You cant stand in front of it, obviously) so not only will you have to have a projector but it will have to mounted ABOVE YOU or it will not work. When we played it sucked because one person is on each side and you cant get in front of it. Just a word of advice from some one who has done it. _________________

I'm going to say no.
Most of the general public is not open to DDR, and doing heavy songs makes people generally look goofy.
You WILL be laughed at, so unless you REALLY don't care what others thing of you *which i doubt* then i wouldn't reccomend you to do it. _________________

I'd also advise against it, unless you look really awsome when you play. As much skill and talent as it takes to be a good DDR'er, most people do not see it that way, assuming it is just a stupid arrow smashing game... _________________

They might respect what you do and they might not. If I went to your Highschool I could tell you if they would enjoy it or not. _________________
