ok I learn a lot of songs with complicated beats by using assist 4. Sometimes if I don't have it @ home, I'll just learn it @ the arcade. BUT has anybody ever just wanted to listen to say and mp3 of a ddr song, only to find that you still hear the step rythmes in your head?!

Also, have you ever listened to an mp3 (so you can hear it without all the step thumping) and thought "hmm, never heard that before" or "ooohhhhh" so that's where they got that rythm from"

That happens to me all the time while I'm driving and listening to songs. My fingers are tapping out the rhythms on the steering wheel, and it's cool when you hear something different in the background that you could never hear in an arcade.

Not so much DDR songs that I hear the beats in the background, but just regular songs, too. My boyfriend and I have been listening to the radio on a few occasions and have said "I can hear the Standard/Light steps here..and the Heavy steps here.." (I.E. a song with lots of drum solos, guitar solos, the pattern of the lyrics)

Or DDR songs that could have extremely wonderful Oni steps, that don't. (Last Message, harder Sync steps, Dam Dariram, genital stress)

My head goes with the rhythm of Maxx Unlimited on heavy... and I hear Dead End in my head <just the song>. Then Colors comes in and they all sort of mix together and its really annoying trying to play a good song in my head.

i've found when i listen to the song on an album or mp3 then i can hear all the instrumental parts much easier than at the arcade, and it helps me solidify the step patterns. i usually remember WHEN to step when listening to the songs, but not always what direction.

I do that all the time with any song. It's weird because everytime I turn on the radio, even if it's a slow song I'll still do it. Maybe all us DDR Fanatics have the same habit. I know some other DDR players that also do that. It's kind of cool!! E4.gif

I have a bad habit of putting random DDR songs on my mix cds, so I'll be sitting in figure drawing class with my headphones and shuffling my feet around to where the arrows would be when those ones come on. I get lots of funny looks that way...

at the end of Still in my Heart by Naoki (on standard) i can never find the right time to step on the arrows. I can hear where the beat comes in, but my brain is too late at telling my legs to move or something. Its pretty frustrating.

Thats exactly what I do! In fact, one time, while I was doing that, some kid asked me, "Do you need to go to the bathroom or something..." I just chuckled to myself. I didn't get embarrassed or anything, it was just kind of funny. So far, no one has been able to know what I am doing when I do that.

I would simply get the song from somewhere, and use the step charts here and study them..that may help.
