Messed up pad

my friends pad is extremely messed up. its a soft pad that came bundled with a game. the /\ arrow feels like it migrated about halfway down the center square. its really making me off balance trying not to hit too far forward. any ideas on how to fix?

If you paid less than 50 dollars for it just throw it away and get another one. Less trouble in the long run.

My Friends pad, meaning i can't just chuck it out, although that is a good idea. im thinking about buying it off him anyway (game w/pad)

If you do buy it then dont get ripped off for a broken pad.
