Do you play flat-footed or on the balls of your feet? Depending on how you step, that may give some clues as to why your toes are in pain.
Also, I wouldn't play in shoes on any DDR pad besides a flat-out metal pad. They tell you in the guides for the official and unofficial soft pads not to wear shoes because they're so thin, you'd pretty much sever the wires if you stomped around on them with shoes. So, I would say unless it has a plastic covering or thick foam covering, do not play with your shoes. _________________

Hm... I just thought - by "pain in the toes", do you mean a sort of numbness once in a while, or actual pain? I play on the balls of my feet, and only every once in a while do I get a little numbness in my larger toes. If you have actual pain and not numbness, you may have some sort of foot condition.
As for your second question, I have no idea if there are metal pads for the XBox yet; I have DDRMAX2 on PS2, and I have only soft pads at home. If demand becomes high enough, there may be some company that could start producing metal pads for Ultramix and/or any other DDR mix that may come out on XBox. _________________

I never play any other way than on my toes (trying to force my self to flatfoot for stamina building reasons) and as a result I get numbness in my toes once in a while and a pain in my ankle when I get tired. _________________

Never had a toe pain while playing a home version, and i play for like 3 hours a day. But once I play the maxes on heavy in the arcade, my toes feel like they are on fire then once I'm done there, they start to bleed like crazy. _________________

I only get toe pain when I try to play more flat-footed than I usually do. Actually, those are more pains in my arches. _________________

What you can do is buy a normal one for xbox and then mod it. |

I've never got pain from soft pad before, unless you count this one I played on that had stupid cardboard ridges dividing the sensors (not stepping perfectly on the arrow = instant pain). Modding it might help, but then you've got shoe-induced blisters to worry about...They still need to find a cure for that. _________________

Do you play it at home on the carpet or on a hardwood/cement floor because that could be a cause of toe pain. My feet hurt a little bit when I play at home on the carpet, but man, if i play just a little bit on the metal arcade my feet hurt like crazy I did just get some new nike shox shoes where they have the shox on the entire sole of the shoe and they really helped alot for playing in the arcade. My feet still hurt a little but not as much as they did with my old adidas shoes. |

I almost always get toe pains any time I play DDR. just never play in socks at an arcade(I learned through expirece but it was better than my boots). Usually I have problems because of the calouses on my big toe. If you have them use a pumis stone. that usually helps. _________________

Sometimes I get a massive case of athelete's foot. Either that, or my pinky toe itches endlessly like no other. Maybe I need a new can of Tinactin. Oh well. _________________
