Stepmania Lighting And Memory Cards

The Stepmania Devs told us that there are Memory card and Lighting (like the neon tubes around the speakers and the lights on top of a real DDR machine) features coded into Stepmania. The problem is there isn't any documentation on how to use these. Does anyone out there know how to use lighting and or Memory cards in Stepmania? Thanks a LOT. I"m building my own Stepmania cab and I wanna include memory cards and lighting.
