I have some questions about Pop'n Music Animation Melody. I recently, after months of searching, found a place that sold it, brand new and factory sealed for an acceptable price for a hard-to-find game, around $60. I know the game is nearly four years old, but I was wondering if anyone knew anything that could help me know more about the game and how it compares to the regular Pop'n games( I know it's not as good as the PS2 ones, but how does it compare to the PSX versions from around the same time). It'll be my first Pop'n Music game and I don't know much info, except what songs are on it (only 18 songs, but they're pretty good anime themes). Also, what is the rarity of the game? It was the last copy of the place I ordered it from. I'd appreciate any help.

What he said.

Plus, the anime themes in there are oooold, like classic 80's anime (GeGeGe no Kitaro, Galaxy Express 999, Dragonball, Cutey Honey, Dragonball Z, Sailor Moon, and some other ones that never made it to America, most of which most Americans don't know). Unless you're REALLY familiar with old popular anime, or just trying to collect, Animelo isn't anything special at all. It's kinda rare, so I suppose you could get it, but I don't think it's really worth $60 either (as a game). No high speeds (from what I remember), and it's RIDICULOUSLY easy to get 100000. They're all also easy to pass, I don't think there's any other difficulty either (like Hyper/Extra). I got bored of it in, like, 30 minutes.

Oh yeah, Sana sings the Sailor Moon theme I think, hehehe.

Bleh, I don't understand the whole rave over Sana. She's had like two or three songs that I've liked, and that's about it. Putting her name in a song does not make it a good song automatically, imo.....

Anyways, about Animelo - everyone has pretty much summed it up so far. It's fun for a few songs you might know, but I gaurantee you that if you don't live in Japan or don't collect OLD anime, you won't know 90% of the songs. Worth 60? It's not even worth 30, imo. Like Pop'n Disney, the menus are entirely in Japanese - you'll be winging it the entire way through. The graphics are lackluster, there's no high speed, only ONE difficulty (which is insanely retardedly easy), and that's about it.

You should have come here before you purchased it. You will get COMEPLETELY the wrong idea about Pop'n if that's your first Pop'n game, trust me.

I'm a big fan of most of those anime and I've seen a lot of the ones that haven't made it to the US here on German TV. If I would have found it for $30 I would have bought it, but as I said I've found only the ONE place that was selling it after months of searching. When I say it'll be my first Pop'n game, I meant it'll be the first Pop'n game that I'll own. I've played Pop'n Music before at an anime convention years ago, back when I first got hooked on DDR (I was drawn in by SMiLE.dk... how original, right. But that was way back in 2000, so...). I'm sure I'll be able to wing the japanese menus. I was able to get around in Samba de Amigo ver. 2000 ("version ni-sen!!") and I eventually figured out what all the menus did. So I don't worry too much about that. Knowing that the game is easy isn't too much of a turn-down. I need to get used to it first before I attempt anything difficult. I know it isn't the best game, but I know I'll enjoy it, even tho I don't have a Pop'n controller. But I'll get one once I get the money. How is the game played with a regular controller anyway? I'm sure it's not as easy as playing DDR on the regular controller. Nothing could be that easy...

Well thanks for all the info I've gotten thus far. I don't mind it not being the "best" game in the series. I got the original Japanese DDR recently and even tho it definitely isn't the spiffiest game in the series I still enjoy playing it. It's the only home DDR with Strictly Business as far as I know.

I have another question: are there any other Bemani games that have Anime theme songs besides that Taiko drum game?

Oh no, don't worry, the only time I've ever liked Sana was back in Gottamix, with Miracle Moon, and the LED Light Style Mix. She had a few more that were...ehh (except White Lovers, eeee!)...but that's it. I think people who say her voice is awesome because she sounds cute or is cute...needs their head examined.

Anime songs in Bemani?

Hrm. Off the top of my head...

DDR- Dancing Pompokolin, Freckles (obviously)...
Pop 'n Music is known for having a LOT of anime themes, which all began in Pop 'n 6 (like Lupin, Sazae-San, Space Battleship Yamato, Touch, Urusei Yatsura, etc.). AnimeLo and AnimeLo 2 are the only PnMs that have purely anime themes (I believe both came out before PnM 6 did).

...bah can't think of anymore.
