I've been using hard foam pads from Level Six (similar to Red Octane's), and because of the beating they've taken from the last 6 months, the foam has gotten rather hard and compacted. For the last week, my feet have been killing me after playing.
So I got my foam insert out, went down to the rubber store, and checked out the foam they've got. They had the exact same foam down there, but I wanted something less dense (interestingly, the same foam was very expensive). So I found something else, and had the guy cut it to shape my current foam. Now I can bounce around again.
They had some really bouncy foam there that would've been my first choice, but it was too expensive so I had to settle for something less.
Cost of the foam I got: about $20 US
Thought this might interest those of you with hard foam inserts...

I'd rather have hard foam.
Is this a home pad? Then it should go in Console Forums, spesifically (i can't spell for sh!t) the soft pad sticky. _________________

Errr...it IS hard foam. There are varying densities of hard foam. I got one that was slightly less dense than the old one. This is not that foam that comes with cheap pads.
(oh btw, I don't use a console, I use a PC, and this is chit-chat)

Pad discussion still belongs in Console Games, even if you're using a PC. Sorry. _________________
