i would say, in develoment. they just released party mix i think it was for console in japan. i also hear that theres going to be alot of new songs for 9th mix(or what ever they're going to call it. maybe extreme 2 or something, who knows). i know theres supposed to be 2 new paranoias on the new mix, EVIL and i believe respect. i haven't heard muchanything else. i gotta check with my friend again that gets all this info. and to let all of you know that read my post. what i've heard and been told are rumors. the only things i can confirm are real are the 2 new paranoias as i've heard both. the rest is rumors i've heard. _________________

I thought they stopped making the arcade versions because there isn't much interest in Japan anymore, and they don't know the USA is making a lot of money off the arcades versions because most are bootleg. I am the run-on sentence queen.
But I thought they were just gonna make the PS2 versions now? _________________

Do you realize how many fan made Paranoia remixes there are. I remember having a site that had about 50 different fan made remixes on it. Respect is real but EVIL is fan made. _________________

True, Konami needs to put out another mix since the states had Ex for a year now. I last heard Konami is taking a break from DDR and prioritizing Beatmania. It could be a couple of years if they make a new mix for DDR. Patience, my fellow DDR players! _________________

DDR Extreme was the last mix made for the original arcade hardware. There will most likely be a new DDR with an entirely new cabinet, but if it does come out, it won't be for a few years.
The game continues to be popular in the US, however, so there is no reason to believe that this will result in a cessation in production of American home versions.

The States have never "had" Extreme. It's strictly a Japanese release and is technically illegal to own/operate in the United States. Konami doubtlessly acknowledges the number of machines in the US and turns a blind eye to their presence, but their decisions for the game's future are based 99% on its success in Japan.

Actually they're prioritizing Pop'n Music more than anything. But yes, both that and IIDX have been more successful than DDR in Japan for some time now. _________________

What I heard is DDR is over and they will call it something different because the "revolution" is over. Also after playing a certain song on extreme (i forgot which one) it says something like "thank you for playing ddr" which hints at a new name. |

I meant to say, "the arcades in the States had Extreme machines for about a year." Sorry to word it incorrectly
I wonder if IIDX will be popular in the states? It's rare to spot IIDX 9th style machine since the unit cost about $10,000! But of course, if they're are everywhere, then IIDX will be popular. _________________

IIDX already has a pretty loyal following in the US, mostly among home version players given the rarity of arcade machines. It has the potential to be successful here, but I doubt it would ever rival the popularity of DDR. For one thing, the gameplay mechanics are much more complex than DDR's, so it's a lot harder just to watch someone, play a few games and figure out the basics. Recent mixes have Free mode, Beginner mode and Light 5, so that starts the learning curve a bit lower, but it's still very hard to master...I've been playing for maybe 4 or 5 months and I can only pass a few 6 star songs. By comparison, I was passing 9 foot songs in DDR at this point.
IIDX would be more popular if there were more machines here, but I honestly think there's a point of diminishing returns...there are are enough serious players that one or two machines in a heavily populated area would be profitable, but probably not enough to create more of a demand than that.
Oh, and if you haven't noticed on the front page, there is a petition at http://www.bringmorebemani.com to encourage Namco Cybertainment to import more Bemani games than just DDR...check that out and sign it if you haven't already done so. _________________

It's next to impossible to get good at IIDX without the home versions or a lot of money to play at the arcade. _________________

Bigger screen.
Completely orginal song list.
New Expert difficulty level. (Harder than Heavy, think BMR difficulty)
4 arrows per pad active for Heavy & other difficulties, all 8 arrows per pad for Expert.
Pop'n Music style buttons on arcade cabinet integrated into gameplay.
Camera's that take pictures of players that get new records, integrated into score screen.
Laser blasters on machine that destroy people who interfere with players.
Oh yeah... I can see it already. _________________

I thought Konami was focusing more on IIDX...
Extreme isin't stale. I find a new song everytime i play. That's my goal, to not always rape the same songs, like all my friends. Just last week, I realized they have Dead End, and I got an A on it!!
Yesterday, I realized Freckles is the theme song to Rouni Kenshin, so I played that too. I think Extreme 2 would be nice (if it had double length songs like in 5th mix.) _________________

Popn is their biggest money maker in Japan right now. Notice how theyre churning out home version after home version. Popn machines are literally EVERYWHERE in that country and people dont have to beg to get ASC Popn releases. _________________

| They know its here. They dont care that its here, they have there name ALL OVER the machine (and Toshibas Ad's for there CD's). They have contacted arcades about it. A place that did Official YGO tournoments had to call konami, and they found out. They didnt do anything about it.
EDIT: My theory is that Konami is trying to buy all of the licenses so we can have DDRCM! (and n00bs are going to quote me on this) _________________
