Which mod is better for my cheap 3rd party pad??

I don't have enough moeny for the more expensive pads.. So I'm using these cheap 3rd party pads (Mad kats)

I have a tile floor and I'm wondering how to improve the longevity of my madkatz pads (i heard they are pretty crap quality) and also, how to make it not slip.. It always slips on me and I'm kinda afraid of getting hurt...

So, I saw "PAD MODDING" on the tips and hints section on this site, and that's kinda cool, but I'm not sure if it will make the pad not slippery on tile floor.....

And i saw a CHUBBY PAD mod on some other site.. THe author claims you can use shoes on it.. But I have friends over regularly.. And they will probably not wear shoes on it.. So, will the acrylic affect my friend's playing with socks/feet?

And uhmmm, if I just want it to not stick, is there just some simple thing I can do, so I don't have to spend all this time?

Any information would be useful... I'm on a tight budget.

Also, on another note.. I bought DDRMax1 for PS2.. Should I return it for DDRMax 2?? Which version is better IYO?? (like songs etc.)
