okay basically all I want for my bedroom is the CF2 but money is a problem (well kinda), I could buy one but the rules of the house say otherwise. So spare me the asylum and help a brotha out. WHAT I WANT FROM MY PADS: Going for doubles, stepmania compatible, ddr and piu capable, not crap, last me atleast a year, i won't be able to play them as often as I would like but it would be very nice to just chill out on a weekend and play for hours on end. any ideas? soft and hard pads are both okay as long as they don't suck. have fun writting me back, peace. _________________

What do you mean rules of the house??? It it's because you're upstairs and it will create noise, any DDR pad you get will do that. However, I think your best bet at reducing noise would be to get a Deluxe style pad. I'm not exactly what company to go with, since I own the konami one, but that should be good enough. |

the house rule is : "you can't buy a 650 dollar dance set, or I'm putting you in therapy again." let us try again, any dance pad that has 9 functioning buttons (center included), for piu and ddr? _________________

Well, I find building pads can be rewarding in itself, it's a lot cheaper than buying comparable quality, it's more of a spread-out investment than just one charge for $650, you'll know a lot more about how the pad works (and, incidentally, how pads work with Stepmania, and depending on how you connect it), and you can put on as many buttons as you want.
So building can be valuable by itself in addition to having cheap, well made pads. If you don't feel the same, it's probably still better than therapy. You might even get some pseudo-therapy cred from your new harmless constructive hobby |

I do not believe you are going to find a 9 panel platform. Seeing as if you do that, you'll always hit one button.
In addition, there isn't much of a demand for both, only one or the other. _________________

gee these are all great ideas and all (except that one guy who said you'll only hit one button...wth is he talking about?) but I only am considering the pad building option for now. ...now how do I build a pad like the CF2? how do i build a pad that works with SM with like twenty buttons? that'd be cool... _________________

uh.... well why would you need twenty buttons? the most i could see you needing is 16.... with the arrows and shape buttons with two pads together... check the metal / homemade metal pad. _________________

yes, making a pad is a very good idea. they are cheaper, very duaable (depends on how you make it and wat metal oyu use) and if it breaks you know how to fix it. i have a pad in the making now, and all i got left to do is sodder everything and attach the buttons and im done _________________
