|
|
For the first time ever I felt embarrassed after playing, and this is after 4 years of playing and tons of heavy AA's.
My school was holding a pep-rally for the football team so they had a little school fair which catered food, brought in a DJ, ect.
My friend tells me that they have a DDR setup and that I should go play. So each of my friends gave me .25(1 play was $1), and I got in line.
I watched some of the other kids playing songs on light and I began to think what they would say if they saw me playing on heavy.
So it's finally my turn to play(in front of everyone), and I see that they have these unmodded Mad Catz pads and I have to take my shoes. Not a good thing since I have never played the home version. I pick Paranoia 180 as my songs since it was the hardest thing I could find on Konamix, and the song begins.
A huge crowd surrounds the setup since a few people have seen me play at the arcade before and they decided to tell everyone that I was good. The combo the first 50 steps and everything seems to be going well with the typical "ooh's" and "aww's" given by a crowd, and then the pad starts slipping. I didn't notice this until the right censor stopped responding and I looked down to find that I was only half way on the pad.
Before I can adjust the pad slips even more and a big FAILURE goes across the screen. The crowd breaks out in laughter and I walk back to where I eat lunch, hanging my head in shame.
They wouldn't even let me try again with the pads taped to the ground .
Post your embarrassing DDR stories here.

When I was playing today, I hadnt warmed up yet and decided to do some standard songs. (I have been doing Standard (Trick) for less than a week.) I tried to keep up, and failed miserably. Little kids were laughing...

I get embarrassed if a non DDR player agrees to play on the difficulty level I play..and in the middle of a song, they tell they don't want to play anymore and they just leave me...playing on one side.
The other side never gets taken due to the fact it doesnt get crowded..and no one else wants/is able to play at that particular level..
It makes look like I am trying to be cool by putting in another token in for the 2nd player slot..and leaving it there..
Then it gets embarassing when people watch..and my left foot sorta goes over the edge of the metal pad while playing...thus, messing me up and making me almost trip..
I hope I don't trip and hurt myself |

What Up Everyone!
One of my embarrasing moments when playing DDR was when a girl was playing Xenon on Std, she failed at it. When It was my turn to play, I played it on Heavy and ened up failing!
I was playing in Qzar in Pleasanton, CA and I decided to pick Its Raining Men. I assumed no one was there to watched me. After I played it, there were these 3 fine a$$ girls that watched me! That was embarrasing. They thought I was gay or something.

erm, mine was, i was waiting in line to play DDR and this 12 year old by is making fun of me cuz I'm he only girl who wanted to play. this older dude (bout 18) offers to move me up a turn by letting em dance with him, but i had to play on the LEFT side (i never played the left before) so during the songs, my body was trying to get on the right pad where he was >_< i think i failed every song @___@
then i returned later with a bottled water, got on the right side and redeemed myself but there were less people, so i still get embarassed every time i return to that mall _________________

my single most embarrasing DDR moment was the very first time that i had played. i had seen it a million times but never had the nerve to play. well about 6 months ago a friend of my GF broke out her ps2 and her copy of ddr max. i watched a little bit and after about a half hour got up the nerve to play. well the person that played right before me put it on STD and never put it back. the other person i played with chose rthym and the police as our first song, i nearly had a heart attack trying to keep up and wound up tripping over my own feet. My face hadnt been that red in a long time. but it was alright because right after i got back up, caught my breathe, and played for a few hours, and became eternally addicted to the narcotic known as DDR |

when I was first trying to learn doubles back in the days of 3rd mix, I was playing this one song and I got lost on the pads and I just...went off the side of the pad. it was a stupid fuck up, too. I was all embarrassed. if it had been legitimate (which I guess it was 'cause I was still learning), it would have been ok, but it was just stupid how I messed up. _________________

Many of us have humiliating mad catz expirences so I won't bother mentioning mine too
I was doing doubles one time myself when I was learning to play and picked I think...Drop Out Trick on a 4th mix plus machine. So as I'm manuvering back and forth across the pads in one section of it I completley fail off the machine but somehow....against all odds manage to hit hit arrows with my hands as I crawl back onto the pad. I was pretty pleased with myself even if everyone was laughing at me. _________________

I wouldn't care if people started laughing at me cuz I made a stupid mistake like falling off the pad (only happened once). As a matter of fact, I laugh at myself. |

I'm not really embarassed but usually when I go the the mall to play DDR I end up always making new friends and it seems like everybody there knows someone else and I don't. Oh well. . _________________

I think we've all fallen off the pad doing doubles at least once.
I'm gonna vote myself for the most times fallen off a pad.
I was doing Sana Morette Ne Ente manic double one a MAX2 machine with really high lips on the arrows. I must've tripped over them like 7 times. Halfway through the song my inertia on a fall put me all the way into the next arcade machine and I failed. :| I just went back to single, then. _________________

I've got an oversized pad at home, so once I went to the arcade, and overstepped onto someone's foot. |

I'm sure if it was sold for profit, Konami would clamp down on it (I'm sure it's a matter of time before they clamp down on ITG).[/quote]

My most embrassing moment was when I just come in from the outside (it was raining) and I put my tokens in and start playing Memories. Lets just say after 20 sec. in the beginning I slipped and fell. _________________

My friends got a pretty embarasing moment. We were playing at the mall and this hot chick, probably about 17, comes up and puts her coins in. we finish up and some other kids use there credits so we harras my friend to ask to play versus with her. so finally he does, expecting to be able to stay with her, then get her number (hes a pimp). well he gets up and lets her pick the first two songs, she picks 7 footers so he figures hes fine. then she puts tons of mods on (hidden, dark, reverse scroll, 1.5) and just tricks out the entire song while hes struggling his buttocks off with no mods. Then finally on the last song he fails out while shes doing her usually stuff and he just walks off the machine and leaves in shame. She was damn hot tho, plus it was around christmas (yesterday) so there was a huge crowd (its at a mall). |

at the mall huh? Yeah, it is around the holidays, i wonder if i can get to the mall and DDR in front of a lot of people
On topic......I stepped on a little kid once. The parent gave me a dirty look. Also, never try a song with knees only. It makes anybody watching you go away. I did it once, my knees were sweating, so i couldn't get any grip. Passed the song (Baby baby gimme your love on basic). but i'm never going to do that again. _________________
