I'll start by being on topic, the last award they realeased was for the game with the best music, bieng a ddr player I could have swore that they would acknowledge a game totally based on music and dancing to get a award on this show. no, def jam vendetta the lame buttocks wrestling game got the best music award. Just plain crap.
off topic- WHAT THE HELL! the best game of the year is Madden 2004 a football game, what is wrong with these people. A wrestling game got best fighter. They played horrifingly disgusting music. This has to be worst videogame tv show ever. THese people probably played like 20 games and said oh oh this game has a name i understand on it and i can accosiate with it so I'm going to forget all the other games and give this game an award. THere's a reason why they didn't have any nominees..... _________________

DDR should have damn well made best game sountrack. Soul Calibur 2 should have been the top pick for fighting game. I'm disgusted at madden 2004 as best game, it didnt even get half the acclaim and hype other games received, yet still won...jeez. DDR encompasses music from many different genres, thus making it a huge pick over all others. what were they thinking?! _________________

I'll tell you exactly what they were thinking.
We have absolutely no programming for the month of December. Joe Schmo has run its course, we've already done about five James Bond marathons and there are only so many WWE shows you can put on the air at one time before the wrestlers are forced to live in their dressing rooms. So let's make a 2-hour commercial for a bunch of console games and disguise it as an awards show. They'll never know the difference.
Seriously. An awards show for video games. The universe ought to be collapsing from the paradox that creates. _________________

Wasn't there an award show of type about... ten years ago, that was just as bad? And it awarded something to Mortal Kombat, when Mortal Kombat 2 was already out?
Video game shows on tv are not good, by rule. |

My friend said the awards were pretty crappy.

Excuse me i have to buy another remote now.
Soul caliber got most addicting. still, It was simply a way for them to have a grudge match and have some lame buttocks bands sing, and get steve-o to show off his stuff. It wasn't a videogame award show. It was a built in commercial body show case of things that some retarded redneck might find amusing. _________________

Spike TV is a stereotypical channel for "men". By that, that's why Madden 2004 somehow got up there. Pathetic. I wish FFXI hadn't been stained by a god-awful show (FFXI is NOT a bad game, but it needs a worthwhile award). |

Anyway, I watched for about 5 minutes when they announced THUG got some award. Then they started doing their little wheelie-board tricks so I changed the channel. |

The reason it probably didn't make it is because DDR isn't a manly game when you look at it (even though most who play are male). Spike TV is supposed to be a mens channel, so they don't want a colorful arrow dancing with music game. They want a gangsta beat up your enemy to rap music game to be number 1.
Of course it's a bit biased. _________________

According to them the key demographic for videogames is now 20 something males you love porn stars and hardcore music. If I want to watch an award show about games, I don't care about the music they play, or the stars they introduce. I'd rather watch the real creators of all the games recieving awards, a few nominees so other companies that spent countless hours crating a game get some recognition. After watching the awards show on G4 (In which Jenna Jameson recieved the award for Grand Theft Auto: VC) I realized how bad this must make games look. Tends to make you wonder how much sponsorship EA put into this show. The whole thing disguisted me, I didn't even watch any of it, all it took was a commercial and I got that sinking feeling.
This obvious JOKE of a show and massive SLAP to the faces of all videogame participants is WORTHLESS and should receive absoutely ZERO ratings should they ever do this again.
ddr shoulda won bst musicomg wtf; _________________

I knew DDR wouldn't win the best music award, but I did expect that the winning game would be music-based, as opposed to Def Jam Vendetta. Blah.
In my opinion, the award should've gone to FreQuency, Amplitude, DDR, or IIDX, but I think FreQuency's a bit old to qualify, anyway. _________________

WTF???
I should have seen all this coming. I mean everybody looked like they had no idea what the hell they were talking about. They paid those people to get up there and to announce those games and to do that show.
It was nothing but a marketing scam. I mean Madden getting game of the year means that a bunch of casual gamers voted on most of those games. All the guys I work with only play sports games but they are so dumb the could never play anything more complicated than Mario Bros.
I'm sorry, but the chances of DDR getting an award on the show were zero to begin with. That show was too hip to give any deserving games an award. I mean little kim. What the hell does she know about video gaming. And most sports games are for casual gamers anyway.
On a last note I didn't know that Def jam was a fighting game.
All I have to say is that I was pretty insulted after watching that show.
Let us be glad that DDR didn't get any anwards. Not from that piece of crap commercial. I feel sorry for all the developers that attended the show because I'm sure they felt pretty bad after the show was over with. _________________

Spike TV = The Redneck Channel...
I doubt they'd understand anything other than football and wrestling...let alone video game genres at all...(wrestling != fighting) _________________

spike tv has absokutly no taste in games then if they picked that. they probably went to walmart and saw some titles and said best soundtrack, best fighting game, and game of the year when i doubt they even played it. hey im just happy they didnt diss DDR. it could have been worse but it was pretty bad it didnt get an award _________________

And how do you know Lil Kim doesnt know anything about video gaming? No effence but I mean the music in DDR is great and all and its my favorite music but it isnt everyone elses.

Yeah, it wasn't that good.
The best parts were the catfight, the DOA girls, and the short, 20 second preview of Halo 2. Did i mention the DOA girls? _________________

You've got to be kidding right??
I'm sure you felt the same way we felt as well. I went into this not knowing what to expect and I was hoping that maybe this award thing was going to be good. Unfortunately, I felt so insulted because I believe that they did very little research on the games that actually won.
Hell, they could have discussed technial aspects of the systems; had people that were part of the developement teams do some commentary. I mean they could have done a lot of things that would have made this show so good and made it seem like they really did care about us gamers.
I mean they do all that sftuff for the movie awards. Why not give us the same respect?? I mean VG do pull in more reveue than the movie industry, but they treat us like a bunch of dumb asses and give the impression that video gaming is some sort of mindless entertainment. Plus, they didn't even mentioned Rpg's. Nor 2d shooters or the bemani series. I mean the really innovative stuff. So in the end all you got was an hour of movie stars and bands trying to act like it's a real awards show. When in reality everything was so botched up that I just could watch at times. I'm even more insulted that you as a gamer didn't expect more from this show.
And the biggest insult of the award show was that they even got the genres of the games mixed up. Def Jam whatever a fighting game!!! Somoebody should go back and tell them that that is a wrestling game.
Oh well I guess I'm going to shut for now. Opinions??? _________________
