I'm just wondering if anyone has any advice on the best way to handle someone who's obviously BSing their scores online.
Oh, and if you have any funny stories, that'd be cool too! |

Point out contradictions as to discredit them.
As in, "Wait... you AAAed Drifting Away on heavy, but you need help on how to do the gallops in Cowgirl???" _________________

Anyone remember "danzmacheen," or however the hell it's spelled?
He kept bragging that he AAA'ed MAX 300 on Stealth. Had he done that, I'd be hearing from the DDR community, or I would have seen pics. But he never provided pics, nor did I hear about him. |

That's too easy of a solution though. It has to be more complex than that. _________________

Yeah, preferably a solution completely devoid of all logic. _________________

There was a kid back in NMB who kept talking about how awesome he was after Ruzel and I showed him the game and taught him the basics of how to play. He would always complain that the pad didn't work or that the songs weren't synched right etc. but was sure that if everything worked, he'd do just fine. Ruzel or myself would play whatever song he was complaining about at the moment and AA it. "Works alright for us," we'd say, and let him try again. One day (after about three or four weeks of playing) he told us he could bet a B on Matsuri Japan Heavy in the arcade (at the time, that was the best I'd ever done). Ruzel and I were heading to the arcade that day and invited him along. Of course, he said he couldn't make it and when we asked why he said, "Umm... I... just can't today. Maybe some other time." He started telling people at the high school who talked about DDR that he was better than Ruzel. So Ruzel brought in his laptop and pad and we talked some teachers into giving us play time in class (since Ruzel is a year younger than me, I had to talk my teachers into letting me skip class to play DDR with a friend of mine for a project for their class - which is true, but a different story). After everyone saw Ruzel and I play a little bit, it was obvious that Ruzel was better than me, and I was really impressing everyone. So they all of course thought that the other kid must be incredible. They all kept bugging him to play until he finally had to. Needless to say, he played like someone who's been playing for a little over a month, and nobody listened to a word he said about the game after that.
Basically, if you can actually get a chance to play with them, hype it up. Be like, "OMG! I can't wait to see how awesome you are! I'm bringing all my friends! (And a camera!)" Then when you throw down on them, they'll shut up. If there's no chance of playing with them, ask them how they do on a particular song. If they "haven't played it" ask them to next time they play. When they play it, tell them your perfect count - 100. Then if they have a similar number, either they're telling the truth this time, or have no idea what how many arrows are in it etc. etc. I think you see where I'm going with this. Basically, if you can get the person to play, it's pretty easy to discredit them.
