Hey guys, to all the ladies out their this question is for u.......
I don't know anyone else's thought on the subject but the reason I got into ddr is the thought of it attracting girls, but now that I am really good at it, it occurred to me that the girls watching me play were few, and the ones that were watching are like "o my God look at that weird kid" so ladies what's the story here?????????????? |

Think about it this way (no offense or anything). This is the stupidest thread ever, because you ask for girls' opinion on DDR and why they think we are weird because we play or whatever. But then again, you are posting on DDRFreak, where obviously all of the girls (or atleast most of them???) like DDR, so asking their opinion on it at these forums are quite pointless. _________________

hes right though, if you want an unbiased answer, I suggest you ask elsewhere.
oh and if you're playing ddr to attract girls, you're playing for the wrong reason, ddr ain't really gonna get you girls |

I don't see DDR as responsible for getting me girls, I see DDR as the attraction I need to get girls. I mean once they notice this ::strikes pose:: the DDR dosen't even exist.
Seriously, this is a very biased place to ask if girls like guys who play DDR. Go into a chatroom or something and I'm sure "DoMe6969" will find an interest in young males who play videogames. |

I gotta say, DDR can do a wonderful job of toning your calves and to some extent, your abdominal muscles if you don't bar rape too much. _________________

I doubt it will attract girls who don't play, but maybe if you find a girl that plays DDR....it could happen. _________________

Actually, it depends on HOW you play DDR and how cool you make yourself look if you get chicks playing or not. I use "regular" dance moves and props, so it just about always looks really cool to whomever may be watching (inc. women...).
If you find a chick that plays DDR AND you look somewhat cool playing, it's OVER. You are SO IN (but y'all didn't hear that from me). All of the girls that play DDR here in Albany are like 15 years old, though....starting to miss the TONS of gorgeous girls from Syracuse |

DDR is a great way to attract women, but not to keep them.
They could see you doing awesome at the game and use your performance as a way to strike up conversation, but don't expect anything along the lines of, "Let's head back to your place and make hot monkey love, 'cause I luuuuuuuv your DDR skills!" _________________

Well, of course not. But you CAN be willing to say screw DDR for the rest of the day when some chick actually watches you for more than a song or so. Introduce yourself, keep a safe distance 'cause you're prob. really sweaty, and collect the phone number. Later (once you've gone home and showered), call her and you're either going on a date later or you're going back to playing DDR the next day. Win-win. |

Trust me on this, no matter how "cool" you dance and no matter what "dance moves" you use, moving on top of some metal box with flashing lights will make you look like an idiot. However, this is not a total loss because girls just might like that.

That does not work in the real world unless the girl plays DDR or is some anime-obsessed nerd with cat ears. If the girl is neither of those then chances are she will not like you because you stomp really well.
The bottom line: Playing most video games does not impress girls, so playing one that makes you stink and look like crap after you are done doesn't make the situation better. |

Tsk, tsk. I'm actually 18, and I've ACTUALLY gotten a few (non-anime fan) girls' numbers from playing DDR using actual dance moves. They're usually impressed by the fact that someone is willing to make themself look either like a jerk or like a DANCING MACHINE in front of all of those people.
Eh...to each his own... |

Well lets see... I think the main reason why girls don't seem to react to your skillz to be able to dance well on a ddr machine is b/c...
1. They think the game is stupid and notices someone dancing on it...
2. People wouldn't call DDR really "Dancing" more like stomping heh
3. Most girls aren't into DDR... some are.
4. They probably saw someone using the machine for the first time and find that very odd to see someone on it so they act with ignorance.
But the point is... You can't expect a lot of girls to come up to you and be very amazed at you for playing DDR. some maybe impressed, like the girls that actually do play. but the majority that doesn't... wouldn't give a damn, unless you're really cute.
//And where did you get the thought of DDRing would attract girls anyway? (just curious ) _________________

Actually ... and this might just be from my point of view:
At first, I was amazed guys actually did play DDR, it looked more like a girl's sport. For the first few times I saw people playing, I was amazed, and generally wanted to talk to the people here who do play. (All these being boys/young men/men/whatever.)
If I were to see these guys walking down the mall, or around in Putt Putt any ole' day, I do not believe I'd speak to them. But, because of this game, it really did attract me to them, and made me want to be friends with them.
Also, guys who play DDR, I find very attracting. But again, that might just be from one girl's point of view. _________________

Oh, well. Capt. Kitty, you are NOT the only female who thinks this way. As for me, I guess women must just like me, cause what's not working for you on DDR (besides, I don't stomp when I play...you usually can't even hear me unless you try) works fine for me. (Look at it this way...you're almost definitely more skilled than me). |

Yea... well for me, i don't get attracted to guys that play DDR all the time... but I usually find them easier to talk to than if i wanted to be friends with them vs if i were to see them elsewhere

LoL it's not only your POV... I used to be like that... but then I kinda go over it b/c not all DDR guys have great personalities... but I still don't get why guys think the better they play, the more chicks they would attract... I guess it's the 'wanting to impress the girl' thing... _________________

I agree with you completely. Guys that I've met (and still talk to) playing DDR (or through DDR Freak) have been complete sweethearts. I've had my fair share of unpleasant people, but that's why I stop talking to them. I enjoy making DDR part of an evening out with a guy, especially when he's better at it than I am, it's fun to watch him play if I need a break. _________________
