For some reason, my ignition pad has stopped working. The sensors work fine, they even light up when I plug the pad into the playstation. However none of the buttons respond. Has anyone else had this problem that might know how I could fix it? |

I've had this exact same problem with my pads and I know other people that have had it too.
What I did to fix it was buy a cheap third party PSX controller, cut the cords from the controller and your dance mat, then splice the dance mat's cord to the third party controller's cord (the half you plug into the PSX).
I'm assuming this is because something happens to the plug so not all the contacts touch the contacts on the PSX anymore. |

May I ask what tools you used to splice the cords. Also where in the controller did you cut the wire?
Oh yeah, and how do you splice chords exactly? |

I didn't have the proper tools to do it, so I just used scissors and electrical tape.
If you want to do a better job of it I'd say get a wire cutter, wire splitter, a soldering iron, and electrical tape. That's only if you want to do a REALLY good job of it.
Cut the cord off of the controller near the base of the controller (that way you'll also extend the length of the pads when you're done). Cut cord off of the pad near the plug.
Strip the wires on both cords until you have enough copper showing to attach the two cords together. The colors of the cords on both controllers should be the same, so just go yellow to yellow, blue to blue, etc.
If you wanted to do an ideal job this is where you could solder them back together, but you can also just twist the cords around each other then tape them up as best as you can making sure to cover the wires completely.
Then plug your pad into your PSX and test it out. If it works yay, you fixed your pad and extended your cord to boot. If it doesn't (a)All the wires might not have been spliced back together correctly or (b)The plug wasn't the problem in the first place in which case you're out $5. |
