|
|
I recently finished modding my two soft pads at my house. The first one turned out great and I couldn't be happier. However, the second pad doesn't work now. No, I didn't staple throught the pad. As a matter of fact I followed the instructions as are outlined on this site. I can get it to work if I play with the wire and get it in just the right position and it cannot move. This doesn't seem to ever happen because I am starting to play doubles. Not sure who made my pad but if it helps there are no markings for the triangle and square buttons. Do I need a new pad? Is there any way I can fix it? Money is VERY tight on my end and I am unable to afford metal pads or i would get those instead. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

there is probably a break in the wire ifyou need it to be in the right place. if you find the break you can probably tape the break and it might fix it. hope this helps. |

I had this happen to my soft pad, too. It does sound like a break/short in the cable. If you want to repair that cable, the only way I know of locating the break is to go down the cable and flex it at different points while testing the connection. It's a really annoying process. In my case, I tried wrapping what I thought to be the broken section in electrical tape, and giving it a little splint (made of popsicle sticks ). Neither of these worked.
Eventually I bought a used Mad Catz cable extension, and spliced the wire from that onto my pad, replacing the broken section. |

Thanks Ikonomi, splicing the wires did the trick. That splicing was PAINFULLY tedious though . Seriously, you can't soder it and I have not-steady hands. Thanks again for the help, you just saved me about $40 . |
