That looks nothing like a CF pad, but it does like like a home-made pad, from the home-made pad thread. |

Personally I wouldn't trust anything off of Ebay. I'd rather make the most of 350 bucks than waste 150. |

Nice vid there Trunks. Gives a good example of how solid the new pad
looked. It would've been nice to see homedude playin' some heavy songs
but it is CNN after all.

What I meant by Cobalt Flux's example is the separate control box with the
START & SELECT buttons on it. All the electronics are probably housed in
that little box now, which is what Cobalt Flux does with their pads. The
pads are also supposedly made with all metal and the arrows are made
with "hard acrylic plastic" which could be similar to Cobalt Flux's "polycar-
bonate plastic", basically making them shatter or crack resistant. |

Actually, the pad is made out of wood with metal surrounding it. Also, hard acylic is the same stuff used on the CG pads; it cracks. And as someone pointed out on my thread about these pads earlier (entitled "Konami Metal Pads on Ebay???"; I'll dig up a link to it a little later), the control box is the same as the ones found on the CG pads. It only seems to look like a high quality pad because of its thickness and the trick bar. However, if you look past the trick bar and at the specifications of the pad, you find that it seems to be a hybrid between Patster's homepad and a CG pad, which is not high quality, but rather low. |

Is it just me or did those arrows look "soft"? I dunno, they looked like something from an RO Ignition. Must be the video quality... |

Acrylic is the infamous cheap panel material that often cracks. _________________

Damn, I guess those pads are out of the question. However, this Cobalt Flux pad seems awesome... does need to be modded in anyway before you play? |

It wouldn't be a Cobalt Flux if you had to mod it! The things come with a 6 month warranty to boot, which can't be said about these other metal pads. _________________

it looks like an old octane pad put in a metal frame with a bar..... im gonna buy it. ive been wanting to build onto a pad.... put it in a frame and put a bar on. this does it for you. you can buy it for about 210-220 as long as you catch the right bidding point. that sounds like a good deal to me. Ill post up some reviews once i get it. ill have to save for about a week then order it so ill post them up with its own new thred in about 3 weeks. got i pray this pad is good. _________________

That really depends on the type of acrylic you're talking about as well as the thickness of it. I'm using some stuff called "Duraplex" in the pads I make at a thickness of .22". I double layer it so that I can stick the arrow graphics between the layers. I have made this stuff crack before. It was a 2" wide piece, and I had to stand on one end and pull hard and quickly on the other end. I have never seen it get even close to cracking with heavy people jumping on it as hard as they can. On the other hand, I have heard of similar acrylics with similar thicknesses from other companies with different names snaping much easier. Acrylic is one of those materials whose properties can change a lot based on the mixture of the materials it's made up of. And also, not all acrylics are cheap at all. I pay $45 for 2'x4' sheets of the Duraplex brand, but it's very good stuff.
So basically, this pad could be using very good acrylic or very bad acrylic, and there's no way to know. I wouldn't bid on it unless I got some very very specific information on its construction and its history. _________________
