It seems to me most people who play DDR are guys - where I play, at least 90% are. All the best DDR'ers around here are definitely guys, since I have YET to see a girl whoop up all the regulars  (It may happen some day.)
Well I guess it could depend where the DDR machine is; if it's in an arcade, probably mostly guys would play; if it's in a movie theater or amusement park (like Six Flags for example), then the gender percentage may be about equal...
I'm just curious to see what others have to say about this. |

While in CA, I saw a girl hand this guy his buttocks... she was really good.
I think it's a game for everyone as well... we just need to get more girls out there to play.

Its neither a guys or a girls game. Its a game. Just have fun while you play, thats all that really matters. BTW I do know a few Beatmania (sorry no IIDX here) gals. They rawk.

its mainly a guys game, because guys are more open to look stupid in public. the only time ive seen random girls play (meaning not regular players) is when they are with a group of their friends and they do it just because its there. they play once, fail, and never play it again. at least this is what i have witnessed  most guys seem to see it as a challenge and continue to work at it no matter how ridiculous they look when they play.

thats one way to look at it.
I think guys are just more into videogames, so they would be more into ddr. But a lot of girls are into dancing, so they would be more open to try ddr other then say... house of the dead for example. I don't see many good girl players, but I do see them. |

Whenever I first started playing I played at home and just assumed it was a "girl's game" Yet, here in the springs theres only like three girls who are any good and who can hand a lot of guys their butts. That'd be me  , Rychan, and Sister Ray. I think guys naturaly are better at it than girls, but girls are pulling on up there. GO US! It's also because I don't ever see too many girls in an arcade, most girls just aren't into gaming. I do know a few girls who play at home, but never at the arcade. Girls can be stupid about getting sweaty and jumping up and down in front of mass quanties of people(mostly guys). I cant see why though....

Although I do want to mention the time I was going up to play and some (and I'm not trying to offend any other girl here) Rent-A-Whore pulled me back and said "No, you don't get it, this is a boy's game." And she proceeded to push her boyfriend and his buddy up there. And trust me, they couldn't even play on light! When I did get up there and full comboed B4U heavy for my first and only time, she made some nasty comments and then walked away.

The gender for the game is neutral, although it seems to be a male dominated "sport".

You know who plays this game? Humans.
Friggin Humans man! They're all over the place! I swear to GOD, if the machine isn't just sitting there all by itself, there's a goddamn HUMAN jumping around on top of it! It's like you don't even want to give the canines a chance, you know? I mean...have you noticed that 99% of the places that have DDR don't even let dogs in? WTF?! How is my dog supposed to get any better at this game! Humans are all getting in the way!
I've been kicked out of arcades for pretending to be blind. I take my dog to the arcade and make like he's a seeing eye dog, and then we go play DDR. He's so happy, jumping around and barking!  He even FC'd Holic on Heavy! I know, I know, that's not a really huge accomplishment, but it was his first time on a metal pad, and he's gotten alot better since then!
Accursed arcade owners and their "no dogs" rule saw through my clever ploy and made us leave. I still have like 8 bucks in tokens from that place and I can't even use them now. They kicked me and my dog out! Jerks!
So my dog is stuck at home playing on a softpad (Have you any idea how quickly he tears through those things with his paws?) and only playing Konamix and MAXUSA.
PS - My dog is a Siberian Husky named Napa. And he's more of a Freestyler than PA'er.

But yeah, I've had a similar experience...sorta. Rednecks will make a half-assed attempt to play, and instantly fail. Then when I play, they'll say I'm just flailing like an idiot and I don't know what I'm doing. Ironic, huh? 
On the guy/girl subject, DDR is a neutral game unless they make a slogan that says something along the lines of, "DDR: Play it and guys will think you're hot!"
