Extreme sucks, plain and simple, and 5th mixes seem to be dissappearing rapidly. Everytime I see one of the best mixes ever being upgraded to Extreme I cringe. There were so many excellent songs on 5th, and it saddens me that there are probably less than 50 left in the country. Sure, random arcades still have them, but the majority of these places are either golflands that charge $1.00 to play or some old arcade that doesn't take care of the machine.
Long gone are the good days when it wasn't "totally radical and super goku ball Z" to play Paranoia Survivor Max over and over again until you turn into a large ball of nerd sweat. I miss God of Romance. |

No ten footers
No ONI
No BeForU / KOSAKA Riyu (Dive is only one.... that's hardly presence on the songlist)
Ugly low FPS backgrounds
Poor 5th mix T.T

You obviously know nothing about 5th mix. Be For U had Dive on 5th mix, and Kosaka Riyu sings in Dive. 5th mix was also 60 fps, and was the first mix to do so. |

Anyhoo's, I wouldn't mind playing a 5th mix again. They have a great selection even if it ain't the nifty "200+-spoil-everyone-rotten-esp.-n00bs" songs.
I wanted to buy one, but then I realized I didn't have the monies... so... yeah... _________________

I still have one near me that in great condition. It's also only 50 cents for 4 songs on Joint Premium. I use it to practice doubles. Since the Extreme in town is $1.00 for 3 songs, without Joint Premium. So for $2, I can play either 16 songs of doubles on a 5th mix, or 3 songs of doubles on an Extreme....not a tough call to make.

5thMIX is the reason 6th, 7th, and EXTREME exist. Missing my point? Then go play 5th, then 6th, then 5th again. If you don't think they're similar-looking, then I hate you.
Oh, and 2ndMIX DC version was the first to run at 60 FPS, not 5th.

I totally agree with you on the grounds that Extreme is missing great songs from 5th mix. However Extreme features more than enough great songs to seriously put 5th mix to shame. Nobody who seriously gives Extreme a chance doesn't like Extreme. Once you have been hacking away at the song list for a long time you realize how much good music is contained within Extreme. |

Your statement is flawed. I've played Extreme for over 6 months and don't enjoy it. It doesn't have any fun-to-play songs, just a plethora of 7s and 10s. There aren't many enjoyable 8s and 9s. |

i think that having extreme and fifth mix is a perfect combo.extreme has its qualitys and fifth dose to. yes there are too many extremes in the country but give it a year or to. there may be one opening up in wisconsin. *gamecastle is rumored i repeat RUMORED to get fifth and IIDX* but extreme did have its mayjor bugs... poor audio quality, the arrows not being synched its just annoying. also the bootleggs are poor quality too (look at alladins in greenfeild, you cant play witch doctor, wild rush or nonstop without it shutting down) _________________

Let's see...number of 8 and 9 footers on 5th: 56.
The number of 8 and 9 footers on Extreme: 132.
In that respect, Extreme stomps 5th.
I personally have never been a huge fan of 5th; at my arcade I usually play the (more expensive) Extreme over ol' 5th. There are a lot of nice songs on it, but there are a lot more on Extreme.
To each his own, I guess... _________________

Keyword: enjoyable
I don't find many of the new 9s to be enjoyable in Extreme. V is kind of, but the 16th get really old. I Do I Do I Do is one of the only 8s I can think of that I enjoy playing that is new to Extreme, maybe Little doggy, too.
5th had so many ones that were fun to play, but weren't much of a challenge. |

May I assume one of the songs you're referring to is "The Twist?" Great, fun song and not that challenging.
My "local" (if you call 60-70 miles away local) arcade has an extreme and a 5th. It really is a great combination. _________________

At Starcastle in Savannah, Georgia, about 20 miles near my home in South Carolina, there's the suckiest 5th mix machine ever. It's like a messed up TV: The only colors are blue, green, purple, and fuschia. On the DDR Extreme machine, it's 50 cents for four songs. It's the same for 5th Mix. On fifth mix, every single panel lags about 1/16 of a second, so you have to act like you're gonna get a great to get a perfect. It's not that way for Extreme. The tourney we had yesterday, some guy did Paranoia Rebirth Heavy on both machines, got a B on the Extreme machine and failed on the 5th mix. _________________

Extreme > 5th Mix
All of this is a matter of opinion, anyone can sit there and tell the world how much better one mix is than the other, but it probably won't change anyone's mind.
Majority of players are going to want Extreme over 5th Mix so of course arcade owners are going to upgrade to make more money. Why would they keep a 5th Mix that only 4 local players want when they can get Extreme that 40 other local players want? Most of the time Extreme will win. |

According to this statistic...

\your\ logic is flawed. This is by far the largest online DDR community, and twice as many people who voted said they like Extreme more than 5th. And even if you were to argue that most of the votes are just noobies who haven't played 5th, half-veterans who played Max2 liked that better than 5th as well.
But ultimately it's a matter of preference, though. I just don't see how you can say Extreme sucks flat out because it is missing some good songs. You overlook everything new in Ex.

Your point is so invalid because that poll is for the DDR SOUNDTRACKS, not the game. _________________

Uh, yeah. Reglardles of the point Syxx Pac made, you said everyone who gives Extreme a chance loves it. I'm saying I didn't; therefore, you lose. |
