ANyone ever have a machine eat your money?

They put a DDR Machine where I work last week, and I had played it a few times without problems, but I got a few complaints today from people claiming it ate their money, so when I got off I tried it myself, and yep 2 of my quarters it wouldn't accept and the other 2 it just ate without registering them. Probobly a bad coin slot, hopefully something the guy who operates the machines can fix, and not something that'll require them to remove the entire machine

I lost a dollar to a coin eating machine.

Actually, it was probably my fault. I kept my tokens and quarters in the same pocket... and I think I pumped $1.25 in quarters into a token slot. The quarters were too big, so they got stuck, and I couldn't get them out.

I didn't ask for a refund, because that would involve admitting that I had been stupid enough to mix my coins up.

sometimes what i have to do with a coin eating machine, is i have to hit the door. it works.

the machine at this theatre allways eats my tokens.... it was funny cause it would eat a token everyother time, so my friend would get his credit and my tokens would end up killed...

Yeah, I've had that problem especially whenever I play Dance Maniax another Bemani game I'm good at besides DDR. It started eating up my tokens, and I gave up playing. I had to bang the coin slot many times.

this is simply caused by the coin mech either being stuck or just having the wire that catches the coin being bent or just loose.. this usually happens a lot and is common in many arcades, it is however very simple to fix (takes me about 30 seconds) and the people at your arcade are probably just too lazy to fix it.

Whenever somebody jams a coin mech with quarters I first ask them.

"Did you put quarters in there?"

no

(Takes a bunch of quarters out)
"Oh, I guess they are not yours
(starts pocketing them)

oh wait, I did put quarters in there.

"no you didn't"
(walks away with quarters)

ummm we had that problem where it would miss one coin very infrequently.. but they just changed the mech... I got the old one :-)

Occasionally the machine here will stop the quarter/token from going in. I just hit the coin slot and it falls down to the wire thingy.

I haven't had the problem of coins not registering, but I have had a different problem. Where I play, sometimes the tokens I put into the machine get registered twice, but I'm not complaining

I've had machines eat my coins once. Then they realize that these coins have been in my pocket, and spit'em out because they're disgusting-tasting.

...or they just don't register, one or the other. >_>

Im ussally pretty lucky when it comes with getting my money eatin exept one day i out 2 Quarters in realy quick and only counted one. So i kicked the coin slot and asked for a Quater from te worker, He said he is charger me a Quarter for kicking the machine, so were even

Many machine-eating-my-tokens experiences.
One time it ate my tokens and i was beating up the machine, and you know i think people were a little scared of a person standing there beating up a dance machine and yelling, "give me back my tokens you stupid machine!" but then the manager came over and pointed to a sign on the wall that said, "do not hit or kick the machines. the arcade has the right to suspend you from the area."

I'm like o crap. So then i told him the machine ate my tokens and then he *bum bum bummm* taped the machine up! ahhh! so then this kid who was like 16 came up and said, "o boy everyone's gonna hate you now!" I said, "they shouldn't hate me, they should hate the tokens!"
then i came back an hour later and they still didn't fix it, so i told them how much money they were losing by not speeding up the repairing of their dance machine, and they fixed it right away.
