Well I do a lot of performing, singing, etc (I have a voice teacher and voice lessons, as well as my school's top audition-only choir 5 days a week) and I've found that all KR really helps me with is my pitch. I can imagine it helping other people out more because practice makes perfect so the more singing you do, the better you'll probably become, but I already sing daily so I don't see much improvement from the time I play.

I'm sure it would even if you are humming the pitch, it still works out your chords. And practice makes perfect with anything, so I don't see why it couldn't.

I've been in singing groups and bands through high school and now I'm in a college a cappella group so KR wasn't quite my first introduction to the world of singing. So naturally I felt like I'd do pretty well
And I did okay, but you'd be surprised at how "stylistic" swoops and dives can register as "wrong" notes. It opened my eyes to the fact that when I sing a note as a soloist, I don't always just hit that one note =)
PS My roommate, who has never sung, totally amazed me. He's a DDR freak but lets just say I didnt expect him to be able to belt out "Kiss Me" quite like he does haaa
Overall I like the game, but lets get some Expansion Discs, US!!

I got the game as a Christmas gift and I have been playing it since. It's a lot of fun especially when you play with a bunch of other people who sing as well (or as sucky) as you do.

As far as making me a better singer, I don't think so. In my opinion, It really helps if you have problems identifying or vocalizing pitches and remembering interval changes and stuff like that. I think mimic is a better word for what it helps you do. In order to win (especially on higher levels of difficulty) you do have to sing but when I think of singing, especially popular music like that, It seems very constrcting to sing the exact pitches and rythms (although it seems the game is quite flexible with rythms) as the person who recorded them did. If you take any liberties such as simple harmonization (3rds and 5ths) even for a note, you won't get credit for it. I think that it is good for this problem however that you are judged by the "phrases" and not the individual pitches. Plus letting people sing 3rds and 5ths is geting pretty lazy nerd.gif Maybe what they could have done is have some pitches be optional, like have two notes to choose from. That way, different Karaokers (eek) can stylize their numbers a bit more.

Sorry for anyone who wasted their time reading this rant riiight.gif

It made my boyfriend's singing worst. Now he goes up and down whole octaves at will during a song and it sounds really bad, lol.

No, I don't think it's improved my singing, (I guess my singing was always decent?) but it helped me get over being nervous about singing in public. riiight.gif

I've memorized It's the end of the world as we know it, and one week. I still can't sing though. riiight.gif I know I can't sing, because The only way I can platinum a song is by completely changing the octave of a song during a high note. E15.gif
