What is so wrong with using the bar to support your weight while playing DDR? The only times I ever use the bar is for songs like max 300. But still, I don't see why people make such a fuss over it. Big deal. Obviously if you were freestyling, and actually "dancing" to the song then it would be pretty silly to use the bar (unless it is part of your freestyle/routine). But most of us seem to play DDR for the mechanical side of things. Like perfect attacks. What is so wrong about using the bar if getting perfects is all you care about. It's not like standing up is going to make you look any better hitting the same four arrows really fast. I'd rather lean on the bar for the harder songs to help my score, then to worry about how I look while trying to get a good score, and ending up with a worse one.
Bleh, whatever. |

For some, it's a matter of pride (not having to rely on anything...?). For others (like me, in most cases), it's a matter of balance.
As cfusionpm and a lot of others like to say, they'd rather fail a song than rape the bar. I honestly don't care; just don't do it when you're freestyling, because then it looks horrible (reference me; I can't freestyle worth the most ghettoed machine you could ever find. ).
Now if I'm tired, and I know people are going to beat me up for this, I will lean heavily on the bar. Damned legs haven't been very limber these past days (I fold up my legs and they won't come unfolded, basically. But I don't stretch, so that's part of the problem, methinks), and I'd fall straight over were it not for that little crowd-container back there. _________________

do you realize how many times this thread has been done? There must be multiple "bar rape" topics on every DDR board ever created. |

i could probobly understand using the bar on hard songs like 300 and unlimited, that sort. but the only thing that gets annoying is when people cling onto it for dear life on songs that you can easily pass on your own steam per se. at the old arcade i regulared, a bunch of girls always played there. they were okay, but the thing that was annoying was the excesive use of the bar on some of the simplist songs. that
s pretty much all for me. _________________
