Did you think it was well... retarded... Then did it slowly grow on you... or did you just like it from the start... At first I really hated it. I was like this is the pointless thing ever invented but, then it kinda grew on me... and 2 1/2 years later I still love this damn game and can't stop playing DDR laugh.gif

How about you?

I didn't so much think about the game, as much as I thought about how cool the guy was dancing to it. So in terms of the game, I thought it was totally cool. In fact I think the guy was playing on a 1st or 2nd mix machine. Then like four years later I see it again in a bowling alley, it's 3rd mix korean version, and there is this guy on there that is insane. I was like, damn, I need to get good at this game. 6 months later.. I'm a good friend of his and I'm just as good, if not better than him sometimes. Now we play on a DDR extreme machine in a real arcade. Good times.

the first time i played ddr i got the imported japanese version with the mat but i didn't like it cuz i sucked at it..... then a couple of years later i saw it in an arcade and remembered my past experience....when i went to best buy a short while after i decided to buy a video game........ and for some strange reason i went for ddrmax.....so maybe (although i didnt like it at first) i was destined for ddr... When I first started playing DDR, at the arcade naturally, I thought the game was cool, but I felt a bit self-conscious about being watched and a bit apprehensive if they were good players around. As time went by I felt a lot more comfortable playing the game and being watched. I started to like DDR more as I got better at it.

I thought the game was the gayest thing ever. Until I heard most of the songs and saw lots of people were into it. Then I tried it and got hooked.

Before playing, I had always wanted to try it, but could not bring myself to. The my asian friends (who else?) started getting into it, and got me to finally try a USA machine. Well I still wasn't convinced, but I then had a $50 gift certificate to Toys R Us, so I thought what the hell and I bought DDR Konamix and a soft pad. Been an addict ever since.

LoL can we stop saying "gay" as in it being used as "stupid." I hate the fact that people use the word "gay" the wrong way now.

Well, yeah I actually thought it was the coolest thing I had ever played but for one and a half year after playin it for the first time I rarely played and didnt even get to the trick level. But eventually, I got really good and was playing Heavy songs easily.

I first saw it at the local (if an hour away is local) arcade and tried it. I didn't know what I was doing, and failed really fast. About an hour later my friend and I walked back past it and saw two guys on it that were doing something like trick levels. Instantly we wanted to do it, so about 10 days later I ordered 2 mats and Konamix from the internet, and now we can both do Maniac levels. E4.gif

I first played in a friend's room with barely any floor space 2 years ago. First I did the lessons, 'cause I'm a smart cookie. I thought it was pretty okay, but as my friends realized that I was pretty good, I started liking it more. So here I am now, and I'm an addict.

Yeah, I too thought DDR was the dumbest thing ever created before actually playing it. I used to observe others playing it and thought to myself "what fools" Then one day my friend introduced DDR to me and it turned out to be the best game ever! I couldn't stop playing. To this very day I still can't stop playing. I should probably control my spending a bit because it is getting very expensive, $25 each visit.....

I've known about DDR for a long time, but never had the chance to play one until my local arcade finally got one.. So I liked it, and new about it before I played it... so no, I never thought it was retarted.

I first saw DDR in a few arcades and it looked interesting but intimidating. Everywhere there were HUGE crowds of people and I was nervous to play it without embarassing myself. Then and arcade near me had a machine and nobody was usually there so I went there often to practice alone until I got good enough to do like 3 footers in from of people. I always liked it because it was different.
