Non slip sheet stuff under my pad

I was experimenting with a way to keep my soft pad from slipping on faster songs. I put the non slip crap under it, but now the sensors in the pad don't respond as well. Is it because the pad is kinda spongy? Please help, someone!

just duct tape the edges to the floor, works perfect. wont move a mm
