I have a small complaint about the begginer mode thats in ddr extreme. With the "begginers" in slc, they usually cut the line, then just jump around like a monkey for 3 songs which can be a horribly boring waste of time. does anybody agree with me?"

They ruin the game when you play them in versus too.

Leet backgrounds = gone >_<

You actually watch the backgrounds while playing? I'm typically too busy watching the arrows.

Of course, if I'm playing with a beginner, I'm usually trying to teach them how to play, so I'm still not watching the backgrounds, anyway.

The bgs help me focus, even when I'm watching the arrows.

OMG... I played last night with this one lady... I have to say she seemed... definately drugged up on something. She told me she had had surgeries... I'm like, yeah..... disturb.gif Well, I played with her... she was on beginner mode, I did my stuff of standard. I pretty much didn't even pay attention to her! But the other day while I was teaching my older brother how to play, we both did beginner, so I could call out the steps for him. And you, it actually wasnt too bad... I put some FSing into it, and got a LOT of compliments, too. E7.gif

I nominate the previous post for the most nonsensical, unrelated story ever.

hey lets let the girl have some fun biggrin.gif

GO KEL!

Anyways, beginners dont EVER bother me. When I play I usually play alone. Most people at my local arcade know who I am and just leave me alone and do my thang. And watch, cheer, etc. If you're lucky you MAY have a chance of playing with me on Versus or have a freestyle battle with me. (Not like its an honor anyway) But yeah, people usually leave me alone with what i do on DDR. Tekken 4? That's another story. When it comes to DDR that's my "Alone" time. My Focusing time. I dont focus on the BG I dont focus on the music I focus on the sound of my feet and the people around me. People cheering me on helps me perform a lot better and often times scores me an extra adrenaline rush.! I usually dont let others play with me as well. I'm a very independent person. DDR is no exception.

Pretty much when I put on my PA mods.

2x Shuffle Flat, that's telling everyone:

"CAUTION! DO NOT CROSS"

Leet backgrounds are evil. They attract my attention disorder and make me miss arrows. Especially double arrows. "Okay, there's a right arrow *step* WTF? Boo? Oh. Left arrow, too... Durn. So much for getting AA on this song."

Wish I could turn off the backgrounds. Or at least make them stop moving.

If I am to understand it clearly Kel was just stating that the beginner backgrounds are no excuess for not being able to do some fun and crazy things on the ddr pad. Yeah it may not be as flashy and cool looking as the normal screen but who the hell cares. Go have fun and play the damn game.
See ya all on the dance pad. E7.gif

Having no access to anything but EuroMixes, where the difficulty is set for both players, I must ask: if one person selects Beginner and the other one doesn't, well...

...obviously, the Beginner mode guy does all those stomping moves like he would in the demo. What about the guy who selects an actual difficulty level? Are there any virutal avatars on the pad on his/her side, stamping around like Michael Flatley after three hits of crack and a few Red Bulls? Is it an empty pad? Is the pad there at all?

Just a curiosity thing, I'm sorry. Can't relate, since I spend time trying to observe beginners when they play and note technique/potential to satisfy both my analytical and voyeuristic wants.

On Extreme it's just an empty pad. I'm not sure if other mixes have that option where the different players can select there own difficulty.
See ya all on the dance pad.

Beginner mode = no fail for the first song and doesn't use auto-fail for the 2nd song, although you can still fail it, it just doesn't end right away. On light you can't fail your first song either, but on the 2nd one you will auto-fail if you lose all of your energy.

What's this light mode you speak of? I learned how to play the game on basic mode not light on the older mixes. E15.gif E13.gif Only newer people learned to play on light mode, because light mode was only introduced on Max1.

Oh and have you ever seen somebody play a really fast song on beginner mode? because its really funny. I saw somebody play Sakura on beginner and the little character in the background was bouncing up and down really really fast. It looked hilarious. laugh.gif
