I think Max 300 burns more calories than running. |

Simple argument: DDR causes sweating (never mind the tired muscles). Your body sweats to cool itself, therefore you must be hotter than usual when playing DDR (great one for the chix, btw ) The body needs energy to heat itself, so playing DDR burns energy. You sweat a lot when you play DDR, therefore you must burn a lot of energy, which constitutes a workout. Q.E.D. |

Hmmmmmmm some people suffer from Hyper Hydrosis - or excessive and abnormal sweating. The human body is hydros but excessive sweating doesnt mean a good work out 100% of the time. Take a good look around you.
Most of the time you are found in an enclosed area where the body heat level rises very very much causing hyper hydrosis.
Does playing basic songs and breaking a sweat mean you've burned that Big Mac? I dont think so. Having a good sweat and working out are one of the biggest rumors in the fitness world.
No sweat involved (well much if you play it) I reckon it to be a hell of a valid work out. If you do it enough times in 1 night. Even basic songs add up to a good work out. _________________

More of a healthy raise from the resting heart rate for a period of time is what I consider as a workout. 5 minutes... 30 minutes... an 2 hours... what have you. My heart and pulse is what signifies a good work out...my point exactly. _________________

Exercise video games can be a great workout however you must abide by these rules:
1. Exercise games do not exercise for you. You must push yourself in an exercise game to do things your body doesn't totally want to do.
2. You must play exercise games in the most active way possible without interfering with gameplay. In every existing exercise game there is a way to play in a lazy fashion that doesn't help get you into shape. Do everything in your power to prevent from falling into this trap.
3. Play as uninterrupted as possible. Go to the arcade when it's less busy, play extra times to make up for interruptions if you have to wait on somebody(s).
4. Finally work out for at least 30 minutes for at least 4 days a week. |

Try to trick you non-DDR friends into playing up-beat 4~5 foot songs on Double. The hard part it tricking them into doing that, but afterwards, they will either be arrow-dizzy or tired (and thus exercised) as hell =-D

I think so, even though people won't think so. Your dancing and using technique which does lead to sweating and fatigue. So I think of it was a workout or excercise I've played all day and my calves are sore the next day. Works your calves depending how long you play. |

Well, the Max songs, around 600 steps in around 90 seconds, if that's not exercise I don't know what is...
As for me Healing vision (angelic mix), and Afronova are extreme enough for now.
Playing DDR is most definitely a legitimate form of exercise, in fact I would count it as a serious cardio work out, depending on what songs you practice. _________________

DDR is the only method of exercise I do. So I say you can call it an exercise saying I sweat bullets everytime I play. |

I dont understand how there can be any doubt at all to this. I mean, hello, there's a "Workout mode" which shows how many calories you've burned and its equivalent to how much jumping rope/swimming/jogging you'd have to do to equal what you just did.
Jumping rope/swimming/jogging sound like exercise to me, and if you're burning comparable calories to those, it's exercise.
Basically burning calories = exercise. I know I'll get flamed for that one by someone with a dumb little factoid they learned in health class or something, like drinking cold water or even studying burns calories and they aren't exercise, blah blah. But I'm not talking burning 1 calorie an hour or some crap like that. DDR burns hoards. And if you burn more calories than you intake, you're going to get in shape.
I workout (outside of DDR) and my legs were always one of my biggest trouble areas. After I started DDR, playing several hours a day, my calves have now become probably the best in-shape part of my body.
I'd say invite your friends to play a few fast songs for like 20 minutes without breaking and see if they don't think it's exercise as theyre panting and dripping sweat. I would say on Heavy, so they get the full feel of what a workout it is, but I'm sure they'd lose they asses on that |

Of course DDR is a really good exercise program. It builds up stamina, heart strength, and increases your foot-eye coordination. Just do fast songs, and you lose weight. It's that simple _________________

I'd say so.
I have naturally strong legs to begin with, but after an hour and a half of heavy songs, when I'm sweating like a pig and my vision becomes blurry, my legs feel so tight its hard for me to walk.
Great feeling. _________________

I'm just having a little debate with my non-DDR playing friends who believe even after watching me play for hours on end, ending up completely out of breath and drenched with sweat, that DDR is in no way, shape, or form a way to work-out.
I would like an honest opinion from all of you. Don't be bias... |
If thats the case, why would they give you the workout option on home versions.
Of course DDR is a good sourse of weight loss. I'm sure once your friends actually get out there and start playing, they would agree.
I mean c'mon...it beats going to the gym and running. _________________

Yeah, you don't need to worry about paying a monthly membership of $98370981.
Who cares about what sweating is or how your muscles work. It's fun, cheap, and you DO lose weight. Might not be as much as it could be, but it's better than nothing.
