I'm beginning training for boxing/martial arts and one of the things that makes an incredible workout is jumproping. I have a jumprope, but can't find it, so after about a half hour of searching the idea dawned on me that DDR is probably a good alternative. The good qualities of training with a jumprope are increased reaction time, endurance building, and great for toning the upper body (permitting you're using a weighted rope). Aside from the toning the upper body part, I think that DDR may make a good makeshift jumprope workout, and it's more entertaining. What does everyone else think? Comments from others who train in fighting styles would be greatly appreciated!

I think any upper level song with a lot of jumps would be extremely similar to jump roping

But, do people jump as high on Dance Dance Revolution as they do for jumproping? Maybe, both have their advantages and disadvantages?

IIRC, you shouldn't really be jumping high when jumproping to begin with.
