.sig files in the screenshots folder

What is the purpose of the .sig files inside the screenshots folder?

It would be really nice if they would allow stat tracker sites like Groovestats to auto-upload or attach screenshots for a song automatically to the song's stats.

It serves the same purpose as the stats.xml.sig, but unfortunately there isn't a website that implements it. I'd agree that it would be neat for groovestats or beatspace would upload them the same way they do the stats. However I can see why they don't because it would require a whole new hosting plan.
