Vandel use more punctuation next time E1.gif

Always make sure your friends play alittle everyday. Your friend who has like 2% of expert should make sure he can A most difficult songs before moving fully into expert. Since you are using SN vocabulary, I assume you are either playing SuperNova or SuperNova 2. I can't think of any 6 footers off the top of my head on expert, but they are a good start. Your friend shoul keep playing expert 6 footers until he A's them (mostly). After that, he should move into 7's, and eventually 8's, keeping in mind that he should only move up in difficulty if he's contstantly getting high B's or A's.

Now for your other friend, the key thing he needs to practice are 8th notes. 8th notes become the bread and butter of this game once you move up in difficulty. Being able to read 8th triplets (4th, followed by a 8th, followed by a 4th) is a great start. Of course, this is only if he's not still having difficulty with 4th streams (which is all you should see in light.) In the case he's still having trouble on light, he has to keep practicing his 4th streams until he gets could enough to say, combo 100 of them (a good piece of a song on light.)

NOTE: should was bolded because some of the hardest songs in the game will throw 8th notes at you in light, which i think is rediculous. Aside from about 3 (i think) boss songs that do this, you should be fine.

Are you sure it is a good idea to rush them, though? It is important to take the feelings of others into consideration, I mean, what if they don't want to get better that badly? Six-footer heavy/expert songs include Can't Stop Fallin' In Love Super Euro Version, My Only Shining Star, Every Little Step (about the only expert song I can AA on the pad E4.gif ), Under The Sky (the cross-over part screws me up though), Spin Spin Sugar (EXTREME 2, the first two are SuperNOVA and the two previously mentioned are SuperNOVA 2), etc. I improved by practicing -- including using the Playstation controller -- and picking up on a few tips such as stay off the center and learn to turn one's body (facing forward is not always necessary) to hit the back arrow instead of stepping back. Of course, people who don't like the game as much as I do -- or at least get tired of it before I do -- probably won't be inclined to practice as much as I did. You could always have them play me, then they will be motivated to get better;D

I disagree about not moving on to harder songs. One of my friends started playing less than two months ago, and she can now pass several 10s and an 11. She got this good by playing with players who are much better than her, and not only practicing 7s, 8s and 9s, but constantly challenging herself with more difficult songs, especially when someone played alongside her so she didnt fail.

Use the last song of a set as a challenge song, since if you fail you don't lose any other songs. Try new and harder songs on that last one.

Also, have them play StepMania to improve their reading skills. I'm not sure exactly how much this helps, but it sure is fun even if it doesn't produce great results!

Most importantly, play a lot of DDR/ITG! Seriously, if they play 2-3 times a week for several hours each time, they will be better very quickly.

vandel,

Instead of letting your friends return their feet to the center, teach your friends to leave their feet in the last position. That's one tip to help "...make someone better at DDR in a short amount of time..."
