I haven't heard anything about them in months.
Did they get cancelled in the Konami merger? _________________

Did they get cancelled in the Konami merger? | Konami sued Roxor and won sole rights to distribute ITG, which they won't do because they did it simply to prevent more from being sold. _________________

Chances are that will be that PIU/ITG Hybird people are talking about. I think 4 panel ITG is done for good. Too bad Konami didn't give a crap about ITG and let it keep going. Kinda like they don't give a crap about putting a mild amount of effort into SuperNOVA. Now Konami can go back to producing all those nice IIDX games they will never give us.... _________________

To summarize what I have heard:
-No chance at ITG2 PS2
-No chance at getting ITG3 AC legally _________________

Actually yeah I do. Only ITG2 machine around me and its only five minutes away. Also, if you do play there, is it me or are those menu buttons sensitive as hell? Oh yeah, got any score names on the machine, mines Simo. _________________

It's actually possible to get ITG2 PS2, but it's a beta version that isn't for sale anywhere. _________________

I don't know why. They could sell ITG and make some money. _________________

Or they could just let ITG go and continue to make an assload of money from DDR without having to do a lot of work.
Let's face it: Konami has a monopoly on the 4-panel dance game market. With no competitors, they can be as lazy and mediocre as they want. I was very hopeful at first that they would continue ITG, but their long silence makes me really doubt that it'll happen. _________________

I guess but you'd think they'd sell both to get an even bigger assload of money. _________________

That's what I was thinking when I thought Konami would continue ITG. But ITG fans are a relatively tiny group of dedicated players. DDR's fanbase is way, way bigger. If Konami ends up sitting on ITG forever, it'll be because they thought that the revenue from ITG would not outweigh the cost of hiring new artists, buying new licenses, making new charts, using new hardware, beta testing, etc. - in other words, it would require them to take over where a completely different company left off to make something that wouldn't generate nearly as much money as DDR anyway.
Unfortunately, I don't have any numbers to back that up. But Konami isn't stupid, and they wouldn't pass up an easy way to make tons of money. If they had decided that continuing to produce ITG would be worth it, I think we would have heard about it by now.
You never know, though. Even though it's looking more and more unlikely by the day, I'm still going to hope that they do something to keep ITG going. _________________

Although, I agree that Konami will probably not release any ITG stuff - I think it will be because they are stupid.
I could be wrong, but I thought ITG 3 was virtually finished. So they wouldn't really have to spend much to get it out there and they could profit just by having the arcades with ITG but the upgrade. No need to make any new hardware or anything. And anyway, the ITG pads and USB support are superior to DDR anyway. In fact they would be better off scarpping their cabinets and putting all the future DDR upgrades on ITG.
Or if they were really smart they would make their upgrades for both DDR and ITG machines from now on which would give them the highest possible customer base. There wouldn't be any need to license any extra songs or make extra step charts - just have someone translate the ITG charts to DDR and/or vice versa and instant happiness. It makes so much sense, that's why it will never happen (except in my dreams)... |

Yeah, I thought ITG3 was nearly done too. But I still wouldn't call them stupid. There's no doubt that they're extremely lazy, but I don't think they're stupid. I think that if ITG3 was a chance for them to make a lot of money, they would have released it already (or would have decided to release it sometime later this year).
If it is because they're stupid, though, then I hope they pay dearly for their idiocy. _________________
