How often do you use nicknames or shortnames for songs??

I use them when I don't want to write the entire name of a song.

eg:
FaxX-> Fascination MaxX
Felm -> Fascination -eternal love mix-
Rx3 -> Red Rocket Rising
MaxX -> MaxX Unlimietd
LAFS -> Love At Fisrt Sight (I saw that one on Kylie Minogue forums)
PSM-> PARANOiA Survivor MAX
NNN-> NORI NORI NORI
Puu -> Pluto (if you saw Sailor Moon, you should guess why I use this nick for Pluto)
LSV -> La Señorita Virtual

Which other, do you use?? E13.gif

Goodbye & Let's DDR!

Well, there are some that you've listed that a lot of players use. Others I haven't seen, and I'm just assuming you made them up (NNN, LSV).

I'll add some for giggles.

300 = MAX300
MaxX = Unlimited
TLOM/LOM = the legend of MAX

Red Rocket Rising isn't on DDR.....It's on IIDX Gold.

If anything, I've noticed people mostly abbriviate hard songs, like LoM or CTFIL(SM). I guess popular songs too, but not as much.

Red Rocket Rising is bemani. Rx3 is the official abbriviation for red rocket rising it's on the case of the single.
Don't forget msl = my summer love.

I actually thought at first that NGO was supposed to stand for something, especially with people saying NGOO as well, but in fact the song is only called NGO.

PSMO seems to be a famous one; people who don't say PSM still say PSMO. Someone at the arcade today said she's gotten almost all the DDR 10-footers except PSMO. As for me, I've come close on just PS at the arcade, but not with the MO part.

Pluto is already short enough.

Honestly, outside of text conversations, I have only heard PSM, PSMO and LoM (or "legend" here and there) being commonly used in real life. So shortening the way people identify songs is mainly an internet thing.

I doubt this thread is even terribly necessary, but...oh, what the hell. I got time on my hands. Here are the commonly used shortenings and acronyms I've noticed around here for DDR songs.

300 - MAX300 (the real name is pretty short, so it's not used incredibly often)
CSFIL - CAN'T STOP FALLIN' IN LOVE
CSFILSM or CSFIL(SM) - CAN'T STOP FALLIN' IN LOVE (SPEED MIX)
DDR - Dance Dance Revolution (Shocking, I know)
Dead End GRS - Dead End (Groove Radar Special)
EE - exotic ethnic
EotC - End of the Century
FaxX or FAXX - Fascination MAXX
Felm - Fascination ~eternal love mix~
HDV or H-D-V - Healing-D-Vision
HVAM - Healing Vision ~Angelic Mix~
HVGM - Healing Vision (GRIDLOK Mix)
konoko - konoko no nanatsu no oiwani
L'amour - L'amour et la liberté (DDR ver.)
LoM or tLoM - the Legend of MAX
MAX. - MAX.(period) (I've seen a few people use "Maxdot", but I only noticed it in a couple threads, so I doubt it has a common use)
MaxX - MaxX Unlimited (Not terribly common to see, but it has been used plenty of times)
NNN - Nori Nori Nori
PH or HADES - PARANOiA (HADES)
PS - PARANOiA survivor
PSM - PARANOiA survivor MAX
PTF - Pluto The First
PYFIM - Put Your Faith In Me (Not sure why people used to bother with this one)
SatG - Stompin' at the Gotham
SMMM or MAX300 (SMMM) - MAX300 (Super-Max-Me-Mix)
SS - SUPER SAMURAI
TMC - TRIP MACHINE CLIMAX
TMP - TRIP MACHINE PhoeniX
TMS - TRIP MACHINE survivor

Since PARANOiA survivor MAX, songs that are commonly noted along with a certain stepchart often get an extra letter to their acronym based on what difficulty the stepchart belongs to (either "H" for Heavy/Expert or "O" for Challenge/Oni). Some examples are:

NGOO: NGO Challenge/Oni
PSMO: PARANOiA survivor MAX Challenge/Oni
FelmO or FELMO: Fascination ~eternal love mix~ Challenge/Oni
PHH: PARANOiA (HADES) Heavy/Expert
(and the list goes on)

...and I guess I should mention the two extra stages that have been routinely abbreviated, as people sometimes get confused on the acronyms' meaning.

ES- Extra Stage
OMES - One More Extra Stage
EES - Encore Extra Stage (this is just another name Konami has used for "One More Extra Stage!")

Obviously, forum goers will have to rely on some level of figuring things out for themselves in order to get used to the usages around here, but it's not nearly as complicated as the long list makes it seem, because the shortenings and acronyms usually refer to a song that is, or has been, popularly discussed among DDRFreak and DDR communities for whatever reason.

I just say 7 Cheers since the translation is 7 Cheers For This Child.

*Points at Liquid Zero's post* My point exactly. The most common abb. songs are the hard (or popular) ones.

I also use OMES, but I've seen both used often by people around here, especially now that SuperNOVA2 is apparently using EES to describe the stage after Extra Stage.

"That fucking off-beat song on Supernova" is even easier, but that wouldn't narrow down the possibilities enough.

Lol, true.

I also like to call D2R and Hyper Eurobeat "Those songs that are miraculously synced in SuperNOVA."
