so i have been using soft pads for the past 2 years, and the pads are dying, which didnt surprise me since both soft pads lasted for 2 years... i'm thinking about if i should get foam pads or metal pads??? or should i build my own???? i want foam pads because i assume that they are better than soft pads, and they are less expensive than metal pads. which foam pads are the best? should i get them from ebay??? i kinda want metal pads because i want those that have the bars go with them but they are expensive. please, help me out!!!! i can do most 8 footers and some 9's...

if you can do 8's and 9's, getting either a foam pad or a metal pad would be ok. but i find out that on the faster songs, the foam pads start moving around a bit.

if you do decide to go for the foam pads, don't get those ones you see on ebay. you want something with dense foam, at least 1" thick. not to mention the foam pads you find on ebay are junk in quality most of the time anyway. i would recommend a red octane ignition 3.0 pad. you can get them at best buy for $50. for 8 bux more, you can get a 2 year, no questions asked exchange/refund policy.

if you want to go the metal pad route, get a MyMyBox blueshark pad. i would recommend cobalt flux, but you cannot get a bar for it unless you build a cabinet around it. the blueshark pads are the most arcade-like, IMO.

hope this helped you a bit

If you have the tools and are handy enough with them, then I recommend you build one since it would be half the price of a BlueShark and you could customize it. And by handy with tools I mean you're pretty sure you won't accidentally cut your finger off.

yeah, the blueshark is the ONLY commercially available metal pad that i would recommend to anyone who wants a metal pad.

and then, just build your own if you are good with tools like OrangeJuice said. biggrin.gif
