So my area just got an ITG2 and I'm thinking it probably has those ports so you can temporarily import player made songs. How would I go about doing this and do I use a USB thumb drive? Oh and do I use '.sm' files or is there another special program I have to download? _________________

the ITG cabinet needs to be a dedicab as far as i know, and either r21 or r23.
you need the song in OGG format and the .SM _________________

Ok I can convert the files into .ogg and they're already .SM files. Do I need.dwi.
Does it run with everything a StepMania Simfile need like a banner and background just like SM does? Also it runs via USB? _________________

no, all you need is the OGG and the SM file. Banners and backgrounds do not work. and yeah it loads from your USB drive
it needs to be set up liek this
E:/In The Groove 2/Songs/*insert song folder here*
the E:/ just represents whatever drive your usb shows u pas on your pc _________________

ah thanks forgot about that.
also, on r23 cabinets songs cut off automatically at 2 minutes.
never played an r21 so im not sure how the song length deal works _________________

Same deal, but you can "patch" a song and basically trick the machine into thinking a song is only 1:45 when it's not. This makes the machine play the song in its entirety, presuming it's under 5MB. _________________

uh no it doesn't
and most of the rest of the stuff in this thread is correct
just should probably note that r21 and r23 cabs won't load songs over 2:00 unless they're patched, and r23 cuts them off at 2:00 if they are. |

how am i lurking? I was the first person to post info. Most upgraded cabinet dont have USB slots which is why i though it needed to be a dedicab. So instead of being an buttocks just correct me without calling me a lurker.
Also, r23 stops the song at 120 seconds no matter how much of it is left _________________

This is just plain untrue. As long as an ogg file is patched, you can still get away with about 145-150 seconds with r23. Trust me...I play lots of custom songs that are over 2 minutes long on my local r23 upgradicab. |

He wasn't being a douche, you're just being defensive for no reason.
You were wrong... twice. He corrected you, and you know more now. Shouldn't you, like, thank him? _________________

no, because instead of coming into the thread an correcting me politely, he comes in and tells me to lurk more and doesn't even help the OP out in the least. Instead he comes in and acts like an buttocks _________________

so you're telling me if you responded to a thread and then someone quotes you and says "LURK MOAR" and they don't contribute to the thread at all you wouldn't be offended? _________________

You're right; pointing out a fact about song patching that hadn't been brought up yet was not helpful whatsoever. I should have just let the OP think that r23 cuts all files off at 2:00, since that's what you posted...right?
You've obviously never played patched files on r23 before, so why bother pretending like you know what you're talking about? Spreading hearsay and half-truths doesn't help anyone. So yeah...lurk moar! |
