Why is it called retunes? Am I the only one who thinks that it was supposed to be returns? I am guessing that the "artist name" is supposed to be accidental engrish or something.

There hasn't been a real new DE-SIRE song in some time so it could be that DE-SIRE was returning with "DE-SIRE returns"

Or because CHAOS is so different from other DE-SIRE songs, that it's retunes because he's retuned.

E13.gif

or it could be silly japanese broken engrish.

Perhaps all the songs by DE-SIRE thus far have been in one key, and CHAOS is in another, hence 'retunes..' but yeah, when I first read it I thought I had seen the word 'returns,' and that's what I called it for about three weeks:
'DE-SIRE returns.' I'm putting money on a case of broken engrish, but who knows.

Also, Healing Vision and Angelic Mix are by DE-SIRE, but Healing-D-Vision is by DE-STRAD? Is that also a messed up variant of his name? Why can't they get it right? Or was it intentional, because they figured the stepchart was going to be a jumbled vortex of crap they decided to similarly fcuk up the name... too bad, since the song is really cool... such a waste of potential with a shitty chart.

I wonder if DE-STRAD has any kind of meaning to it. blink.gif Like maybe sort of an opposite of DE-SIRE/desire. That'd be kind of neat.

Edit: Apparently a Strad is a special kind of violin. << that doesn't help much..

Probably an attempt at a lame pun. It pretends to be returns, but you do that double take and it's "Oh, hahaha, reTUNES, how amusing"

I'd say all of the above.

I'd say DE-SIRE retunes and DE-STRAD are both entirely intentional. Konami doesn't tend to spell their own in-house artist names wrong.

Angelic Mix was by 2MB, not by DE-SIRE. U1's great remix pseudonym must not be forgotten so easily.

Actually, I would describe Maximizer (and other hardcore music) as "darts".

I wonder if Akira still "fear." Daline... E13.gif

But yeah, it's an Engrish/pun double-play. And if I'm right, "DE-STRAD" is also a play on the word "Distraught", which the song's tone conveys quite vividly, especially during the "crashing" parts.

I thought it was DE-STROY at first. That would've been really interesting name usage. E4.gif

Maybe they wrote a t and someone effed it up, since r is t with a few lines removed.

Or maybe R is next to T on a keyboard.

De-STRAD is De-sire and Stradivarius, because of the violin synths in HDV.

I'm sure if it was sold for profit, Konami would clamp down on it (I'm sure it's a matter of time before they clamp down on ITG).[/quote]

No, because the banner says that, too.
