Story
Bad enough they're making a VILLIAN game, but when you trademark 2 MORE games that Konami originally did (Drum Hero = Drummania, Keyboard Hero = Keyboardmania), it just ups the "OH, ACTIVISION CAME UP W/ IT 1ST, NOT KONAMI!! THOSE GAMES SUCK!1!1!"
HOWEVER, notice it's TRADEMARKED. That doesn't mean it WILL come out. Also, Band Hero sounds like GF/DM. |

except unlike guitar freaks and drummania, activision will prolly require you to buy both games and link up 2 systems, because they're cool like that. _________________

Now we need Activision to trademark DJ Hero to rip off beatmania and people will still claim that beatmania is the knock-off. _________________

...ya know, as much as you guys harp on Activision/Harmonix/Red Octane/whoever for milking the cash cow that is GH (especially since it's popular and Beatmania, SOMEHOW, isn't ), I can't help but wonder what you think of Konami for putting out no less than THREE DDR mixes a YEAR now. Or for doing such great and original mixes like Best Hits, Disney Mix, Party Collection, Oha Sta, and Dreams Come True.
Kids, companies milk things like this for all they're WORTH, especially when they're making money hand over fist while doing it. You're just pissed that it's not Japanese this time. Do I get annoyed with the amount of people that are like "OMG I PLAED TEH FR33BRRD ON X-PURT LOLZ!"? Yes, but no more (probably less) than I get annoyed with the Bemani fanboys that feel the need to wave their e-penis in front of me with their latest AAA that they probably didn't even do. Shoot, some of 'em think that the sheer MENTION of a Bemani game puts them in the ranks of the 1337 or whatever those kids call themselves nowadays.
So do yourselves a favor. Play what you wanna play and quit getting so pissed off all the time. I used to do the same thing, and, believe me...life's far too short for you to waste your time doing that. _________________

Word. I don't see Konami releasing any session games outside of Japan lately, be glad that rhythm games like this are being made available to people without having to import/modify. _________________

I'm sure if it was sold for profit, Konami would clamp down on it (I'm sure it's a matter of time before they clamp down on ITG).[/quote]

the problem is, this kills any chance we have of those session games coming to the US anymore. and personally, id like to do session games at arcades instead...its just more convienient. _________________

Seriously, there needs to be more penalties for trying to copyright/trademark/patent stuff that you didn't design. |

Didn't Konami just fuck itself in the ass a long time ago for not doing it when they could have the market for themselves? _________________
BeForU was easily the heart and soul of DDR, until someone in Konami thought that it's a threat to the current structure (read: Konami's blatant overfunding of IIDX/pop'n). |

So Konami doesn't actually attempt to care about anything else.
One might go as far as to say that IIDX in Japan is so much more popular than GH/GF/DM in the US that Konami never saw it as a strong market.
DDR's popular enough in the US that they at least give us a new mix every 3 years. _________________

Might be coming soon due to how the same arcade that's going to location test GOLD here on the 5th is also going to have location tests for SuperNOVA 2, GuitarFreaks, and DrumMania in the summertime. _________________
