They stopped doing it because it was mainly the same small group of people voting for the same mods.

Actually, that wasn't really the case. The mod before was supposed to "interview" the new mod. Mouse never interviewed me after my second win and then I think someone else won after that and I never interviewed them. So we let it go.

Not to mention the same mods kept winnning over and over, and it gets boring after a while seeing the same people win. =( But really, I'm not upset.

Well, when Bush won a second time in a row, we were certain that something was fishy in the voting. Hence, we just dropped the elected position and just made him a hereditary mod of the current time.

We're currently forming armies on either side of the sister divide for when Mod George passes down the crown. My military might is behind the taller one, what's-her-face.

Of course, it's not like the position really means anything, but it'd be refreshing to see two armies lead by females clash in modern warfare.

I stand corrected. Although I'm pretty sure I remember Iguanagrrl saying something about the general lack of a response to MotM being one of the reasons for letting it go.

She did. Because she said that + what everyone else said.

They stopped it because they didn't want me to win.

Yeah, what they all said above. It seemed like a waste of my energy considering the lack of response and I took a lot of flack for the inactions of other winning moderators.

well then can we have a Member of the Month?

you (the mods) will pick like 5 people outstanding members of this site, then the general populous(sp?) will then vote for the members selected?
the winning member then answers the same questions as the Mod of the Month except with a couple of new ones biggrin.gif

sheit i don't care if my idea is shot down..... laugh.gif

That is an awesome idea. It could also solve the problem of the winner being the same people every time, because with all of the members, there could just be a rule that once you've won, you aren't eligable for another.

Popularity contests are often looked down upon. Boards that want to set an example should not do such things.

As a former 'popularity contest' winner, let me say that that's not a good idea.

1. "Why is ____ Member of the month? Here is a link to when they flamed ____."

2. "_____ is such a kissarse. I can't believe they won what about me?"

3. "The only reason why ____ is acting good all of a sudden is so that they can win.

And that's a short list.

It sounds like a nice idea at first, but... it's really not in the long term.

well see the thing about it is that most, if not all the posters, have flamed at least once in their entirety in these forums E10.gif they, who post such remarks only makes themselves more idiotic than the next poster E10.gif and it's not like the winner is getting something out of it other than a the name MotM... sheit i wouldn't give a rat's arse if say gerk won (no offense) i don't see why other people would either. and who said only goody2shoe posters are the only one who wins (unless mods think otherwise)? sheit i would give the first award to like EBT, this poster flames, trolls, post intellectual ideas, and so fort. it's not like anyone here is hella perfect. like what i said before, those who hate could just STFU!!! and burn in hell

kthxbyendie biggrin.gif
